OVERCOMPENSATING

I just noticed that I haven’t posted in over a month. Ooopsie! I had no idea I neglected my slice of the interwebz for that long. Sorry one reader! The trouble with being gone for so long, I’ve forgotten all the things I’ve done in past 42 days. Praise the Jebus for Google Calendar, I try to be “adulty” and update that with my activities.

Since I last posted, I pre-registered for #BiSC this year and glad I did. It’s the last year and I’m a little sad to see it go. This will be my third year and hope it will be the best ever! I can’t wait to hear what new things Nicole has planned to replace the magical #BiSC. I’m also excited that Kelly is going to be my roomie this year! She is an ace at remembering to take pictures, I’m hoping it will remind me that I have a camera(s) and should USE IT (them)! I vary between over-doing it with picture-taking, or not taking enough. Frankly, I’d rather over-do it. This is the last year of #BiSC after all, TAKE ALL THE PICTURES!

I’m generally not one to do New Years resolutions, but I am trying to be more consistent with working out and travel more this year. Speaking of, after attending my BFF’s Lia Sophia party, I’ve decided to try out being an adviser.  I’m hosting my first party in a few weeks and can’t wait to try it out. It will be nice to have extra money for Vegas and Nashville. I also made a meager attempt at thinning out my handbag collection by selling a few on EBay. Anything I can do to plunk some change in my travel fund is okay in my eyes! Incidentally  is anyone looking for a lightly-used kidney? ;)

I feel a little bad for Andy, he thinks I don’t want to travel with him! I’m going to Vegas and Nashville/Memphis without him this year. The Nashville/Memphis trip was a random idea my BFF and I thought up while discussing Paul Simon lyrics. Don’t ask, we are strange people!  Instead of our Cape Cod trip in August, we are subbing it with Graceland and Nashville. Initially we were going to road trip, but after adding up costs and travel time, we thought it more practical to fly. I’m such a dork that I made an elaborate Excel spreadsheet breaking down costs. Now we’ll have to download some Elvis for the 3 hour drive from Nashville to Memphis. I also need some gold aviators and stick-on mutton chops. If I sell enough Lia Sophia this year, I could earn a spot to Hawaii in 2014. Maybe that will get Andy to forgive me?

I’m almost sorry to say I’ve decided to have an obsession with Ugg’s. #SorryImNotSorry! I had a pair a few years ago that I ended up selling on EBay (noticing a trend here?). In retrospect, I should have selected a pair with a shorter boot shaft and went one size down. I didn’t realize the brand runs a little big, I felt like I was stomping around like an elephant. I do recall almost knocking over Andy’s floor lamp with my Ugg hooves, which was when I decided to chuck them. I’m much more satisfied with this pair and may have ordered another (oops!). Let’s not mention the few more saved in my wishlist, eep!  It’s cool though, I’ll be selling jewelry to satisfy my shoe-buying problem and wanderlust. *gulp*

This is turning out to be a long post, I think I’m going to put the rest of it into another. It’s mostly complaints about being old, I’m sure you are really excited to read it.

GET HOOKED UP…AND HELP ME WIN MONEYZ!

While attending #BiSC back in May, we got hooked up with an awesome free brunch from the creator of CrushHub . The brunch was totally excellent! Each table got to set up our #BiSC-uit friend Amber. Amber has good taste, and went with our table selection of the Coasta Rican surf God! We all had a lot of fun with it. Our buddy Chris, the creator of CrushHub is having a contest for #BiSC12 attendees to win a prize by tweeting, blogging, and Facebook-ing about the launch of CrushHub. You should really check it out, especially since I’m shamelessly plugging it people!

They gave us sketch pads to express our creativity! C’mon! :)

Wanna know a bit more about CrushHub? It’s a social media matchmaking app on FB. You can use it privately, which is good if you’re like me and don’t like people to know you’re playing SongPop with 40 people. Be sure to check it out for yourself and help me win moneyz! ;)

24 HOURS

It feels like I went through a long weekend in one day! I got a new computer at work and it’s a laptop. I think it’s exciting because it opens me up for travel and I’ll be able to work from home on occasion. My co-worker and I attended a work meeting in NYC on Saturday. My co-worker left from his night job to the airport. I guess he got a little lost trying to find parking, and missed our flight out! He took a later flight and GOT THERE BEFORE ME! My flight to NY was pure hell! We were stuck on the plane for over an hour because there was something wrong with like the left phalanges.  O_o What should have been a 40minute flight, took 2 hours. At least the weather was nice in NY, I was glad to get away from the rainy Boston weather! We missed some of the meeting, but were able to get the work done that was needed. Once we were done for the day, we had lunch at the elusive Burger Joint. It’s a little hard to find, since it’s hidden behind a red curtain in 5star hotel. It has a cardboard menu and writing along the walls. They warn that if you don’t know your order when  you get to the cashier, YOU GO TO THE BACK OF THE LINE! I was pumped to try out this soup-naziesque place.  It didn’t disappoint.

We did a bit of walking around and exploring before leaving the city. The street vendors were the best part. I have no self control and I got some iPhone cases and sunglasses. I also got to use my new prescription sunglasses from EyeFly. I was bummed to head back to the airport in the late afternoon, but I had a #BiSC date with Terra and Bob. I guess you can’t have a proper NY experience without an encounter with a socio-pathic cab driver. I hailed the cab and got inside before speaking my destination, apparently cabbies HATE bringing people to the airport.  Boy, did he let us know he wasn’t thrilled, by driving 100mph and hitting EVERY SINGLE POTHOLE KNOWN TO MAN AND SOME THAT WEREN’T EVEN INVENTED YET!  I wish I could say the flight back went smoothly, but it didn’t! LaGuardia airport does have nice seats outside the terminal, too bad we were stuck inside the plane on the tarmac for an hour. This time, it was the crappy Boston weather preventing us from taking off from sunny NYC.

I swear that every time I go to NY, I ALWAYS take a picture of Radio City Music Hall. I probably have at least 50 pictures of it on my computer. It’s basically a tradition at this point.

I wish that was the Cash Cab behind me!

Hello, lover!

GTL time, all the time!

I was exhausted by the time I got back to Boston. But I got a second wind, showered, and grabbed the bus for a mini-#BiSC reunion. We had a little too much fun with the GIF Boom app, and I’d Cap That. It was also decided that we need a karaoke night ASAP, and I need to bring my spirit hood.

You know you’re exhausted when the delirium checks in. I was thinking “haha, airplanes have buttholes, and THEY LIGHT UP! #OMGLOLOLOLOL”, when I took this.

VEGAS AND OTHER ILL SHIT

I went to #BiSC again, and Nicole really out-did herself this year. I had the absolute most amazing time!

DAY 1: Stood in the longest cab line EVER with TJ, Michelle, and Bob. We finally made it to the beautiful Flamingo. Our rooms weren’t ready yet, so we dropped our luggage in the registration suite and met up with other BiSC-uits. I also got to see my awesome roomie, Ameena. I was so excited to rip through our amazing gift bags, I’m waiting for a special occasion to use the bacon soap! Once I was showered, I was so ready for the mixer at Carlos and Charlie’s. After the mixer, we had a private ice cream party at Serendipity 3

SO much goodies!!!

Awesome stools

4by6 was great enough to give us each business cards.

Dance party!

DAY 2: I spent some much needed pool time with Nic, Tiff, and Melissa. In the blazing afternoon heat, went on a hotel-hunting adventure with  Kelly. Wehad an excellent dinner at Le Village Buffet, followed by the nakey circus (Zumanity) at NYNY. I also loved hanging out with SukiKinsey, Anita, Kelly, and Donna.

Las Vegas, hap-hap-happiest place on Earth!

DAY 3: Suki, Donna, and myself went on a #Buff-ail with our “24hour” buffet bracelets. We ventured to 3 different hotels to find a buffet, but we did not have time to eat! After that, we had an awesome brunch at the Paradise Garden Buffet sponsored by CrushHub. Our table won $20 each by setting up the lovely Amber with her Costa Rican surf God! Sara showed her awesome drawing skills by making my portrait. I’m totally going to frame it! After brunch, Ameena, Kelly, Donna, Suki, Almie, and I all went to the Las Vegas sign and an ICE BAR (Minus 5)! I had an amazing time at the ice bar, and was little bummed they didn’t allow cameras inside. Once I got back to the Flamingo, Jayme hooked us up with her makeup artist friend to prep for the Chateau Mad Men party. The Mad Men party was amazing, we danced our FACES OFF and we had a roped off VIP section with bottle service. HOLLA! I also wandered around and gambled afterwards.

Thanks Terra! Terra took so many amazing pictures, I’m totally jealous of her skillz :)

Thanks Suki!

Lovely ladies! Linda, Ashley, Ashley, Ameena, Nicole, and myself.

DAY 4: Farewell brunch was great, I was glad to stay an extra day in Vegas to attend it this year.  Nicole and the Paradise Garden Buffet staff did an awesome job! We rocked our spirit hoods and got a mini #VEDA2011 reunion. I also got a photo shoot with the talented Rachel! I can’t wait to see how the pictures came out. I finally got to spend some quality time with my boyfriend in Vegas, where I consumed 80oz of strawberry daiquiri out of a booze guitar from PBR Bar, witnessed a man flip out in the middle of the strip by tossing all his belongings in the middle of the street, and saw the inside of the swanky Cosmopolitan.

WHY BiSC IS FOR ME

I set a reminder on both my phones and decided to go to Bloggers in Sin City again this year. I’m so excited! This time around, Paper’d App is generously coverering the registration fee for one blogger. This is just too exciting! Want to register and enter the contest? Check out the details here. The spots are going up like hot cake, in 8 minutes 38 people registered! If you need more proof of how fun this is, check out my recap from last year. Any questions? Nicole (the awesome event creator) is more than happy to help, check out the site for the details.

I can’t wait to go. It’s like moving into your college dorm and meeting all your floor mates, and then doing the Cotton-Eye Joe dance with them all at midnight.  That didn’t happen at BiSC,  but you get what I mean! ;)

WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO ME?

I have officially moved over here since Tumblr was getting on my nerves with it’s spastic slowness and error ridden pages!  I’m tempted to pay for hosting, but considering my inability to blog these days, I had better hold off. Funny thing is, I used to blog all the time! I had my own awesome website, and I even had time to make/change the layout once a month. Now when I do blog, I always use a pre-made layout. It feels like cheating, but my laziness wins. Anyway, as my workload in college increased, my blogging exponentially decreased. After graduation, I readily blame the “real world” for my blogging failures.

I feel obligated to blog more since I will be heading to Vegas with a bunch of awesome bloggers soon (side note: I’m so excited!). But, also, I do miss it. So please accept this is as my attempt to blog on a more consistent basis. Now I must get my ass on the tredmill.
