My birthday was over the weekend! I was too lazy to plan an outing, I was thinking of doing 90’s night, but that would rely on people showing up on time on a Friday night. Cuz’ if you don’t show up on time, they make a fake line for you to stand in. Personally, I don’t get the fake line thing. There are literally hundreds of places people can go drink, and bet your ass I’m not gonna waste time in a line. Not even for you, 90’s night! So I didn’t feel like dealing with fake lines or college kids. I knew there would be loads of jerk college kids with fake ID’s ruining my good time. It’s like, DO YOU EVEN KNOW ANY 90’s SONGS THAT AREN’T FROM THE BAHA MEN?! Okay, technically that is 2000, but whatever! ANYWAY, I’m getting carried away here and I have loads to photo collages to share.
So we planned a lovely weekend in Maine. We headed up on Friday, poor Andy had a really bad day so he was happy to get the heck out of the house for the weekend. On Friday night, we went out for dinner and drinks at one of the few places that was open after Labor Day that also serves booze. As mentioned in my previous post, we heard really cool music from Rob Benton.
The next day, we went to my favorite brewery in Portland. Shipyard Pumpkinhead is my favorite beer, that’s why I’m always excited for pumpkin season. They let you try their beers in the tasting room, and I definitely took advantage. The tasting is FREE. But since I’m a sucker, I bought a cool hoodie of my favorite beer. I have no shame! After the brewery, we explored Portland. I also bought a lobster mood ring because, MAINE!
I also had my first potato donut from The Holy Donut. I opted for the bacon maple donut, because apparently I wanted the most hipster donut ever created. I gotta say, it was really good! They also happen to be playing the theme song to Portlandia in the shop. I thought that was funny, even though it’s the wrong Portland. I guess Portland, Maine would be the original since it’s much older. Seniority, yo!
We wandered around the city for a bit and found a cool gate people covered in locks, like the one that was in Paris. Overall, I had a really good time in Portland. It was surprisingly crowded though!
We also went to Old Orchard Beach! Andy had never been, and I haven’t gone in over 10 years. At least this time I was old enough to go beyond the yellow tape section on the pier (where all the bars are). Three cheers to being old!
I guess a trip to Maine wouldn’t be complete until I go to the zoo. This time I spent most of my time with the goats and deer. I mean, I’ve been to that zoo a bunch of times, so it was nice just to chill out and feed the animals. Andy and I want a baby goat though, so this could be dangerous!
I also want a baby pig, so I think I should just turn the backyard into a farm. We can train Zorro to herd instead of be a jerk to animals. Although, I think if a goat headbutted him, he’d gladly leave my farm animals alone. Especially if we opted for the white tiger expansion pack!
