READY FOR FALL!

BeFunky Collage

I don’t care that it is still technically summer until the 22nd. I am ready for fall! I did a big haul of online shopping last week and hit up the mall on Monday. It’s time to get that fall wardrobe ready. I ordered a lot of Halloween-ish stuff, like the skirt and shirt in the picture. But I can’t resist glow in the dark shirts or dresses! I even got some new shoes, including a pair with bats. I don’t care that it’s really only socially acceptable to wear the Halloween clothes in October. I plan to stretch that rule, so I can get my moneys worth. I did pick up some non-Halloween clothes and shoes as well. Don’t worry, mom!

It’s too bad it doesn’t feel like fall yet. But at the same time, I don’t mind the warm weather, I hope it’s not cold on my wedding day! I plan to have an outdoor ceremony. But my venue does have an indoor space to use, if the weather isn’t cooperative. Speaking of, we’re getting close here folks! A little over two weeks away and I’m quietly freaking out. I just hope I don’t feel overwhelmed on the big day and freeze up.

BLING BLING

wp-1489676789346.jpg

My friend and I got to do something really exciting this week! We got to meet the queen of bling herself, Sondra! She is the genius behind all the gypsy gowns on a hit TLC reality show. My BFF and I watch all the time and dish about it. She is actually a local person and her studio is about 15 minutes from my apartment. So we are commissioning her to make a really fun (and of course BLINGY!) belt for my wedding dress. I can’t wait to see it!

My friend and I were so happy to meet her. Her studio is amazing, not one surface left un-sparkled. Heck, even the address plate on her building is straight blingin’. She is also really nice. She spent some time in her busy day to talk with us and take a picture in front of her pink creation. I hope to see this dress on a gypsy bride soon!

I can’t wait to go back and see what my belt looks like, I’m hoping I can use it for something after my wedding too as I’m sure I’ll want to wear it again. Anyway, my veil should be arriving soon, and I finished ordering wedding invites, info cards, and RSVP cards for the big day. I don’t plan to start sending anything out until the summer. But I like to be prepared. I’m trying to balance time between moving and wedding things. But I think I need to shift gears and concentrate on moving (whenever that will be!).

WHEN YOU DON’T KNOW HOW TO GOTH, JUST DRESS LIKE A BIRD

wp-1489590064382.jpg

Sorry, I’ve been lacking in the posts this week, it’s been a busy one! But more on that later. Anyway, on Friday I attempted a Goth Night at a local music venue. I mentioned in another post about how I don’t know how to goth. haha! The event is held about once a month. It was really fun. I didn’t really know what to wear (duh), so I ordered some things online. I only ended up using the feather shawl, the rest of my getup consisted of things I already owned. I actually have a matching feather skirt, so it went nicely with the shawl.

Anyway, I turned up a little later than I had wanted. Mostly because I was panicking at what to wear. My friend and I stopped for a drink beforehand as well. That and I was having technical difficulties with my temporary tattoos staying intact. I probably shouldn’t have put makeup on before adding the tattoos, as they didn’t stick very well over foundation. Oh well, lesson learned for next time.

It was a really fun night. There was good tunes, and people had some really fun outfits. My “IDK how to goth, so here I am as a bird” outfit was a hit.  My friends and I had a lot of fun. We stayed until close, and the snow didn’t let up. Thankfully we all got home safely in our Uber.

EXCEPTIONS…

I always said when I get married, I wouldn’t do a veil. I just find them to be an expensive piece of tulle I could hack together myself with a $3.99 trip to a craft store. But I guess it depends on the dress too. A lot of the wedding dresses I tried on and liked, didn’t look good with a veil. But the dress I ended up with, does. So here I am, spending a lot of money on a veil, like I said I would never do.

I guess I can justify the purchase because my dress was a real bargain. Also, it’s being handmade from a small business. So at least I can say I’m supporting a small business. Also, my veil is freaking awesome. The seller sent me pictures this morning, it will be shipped out soon. I can’t wait! It will really fit the wedding theme well. Also, I have an exciting appointment next week, that I’ll talk about later with a famous bling queen. She is going to make a belt for my dress that will outta this world. I just wish these were things I could wear again, just feels like a waste. But I guess that is what weddings are, a money pit. Albeit, a fun one at least.

GOBLIN KINGS BALL!

I had a satisfactory weekend. On Saturday, I stayed over my friends place so we could go to the Goblin Ball. It was a pretty cool event, we went with a bunch of friends. It was held in an armory museum that looks like a castle inside. Very appropriate. I got this really  cool galaxy dress for the occasion. It sheds glitter everywhere though, and I don’t know when I’d wear it again. But it was worth it. I ordered a headpiece online, and I was nervous I wouldn’t get it on time. The snow last week didn’t help. But it got delivered at noon on Saturday. I plan to use the headpiece again, so it was a worthwhile investment.

Everyone did a fab job with their costumes. One of our friends won a costume contest. I’m sad we missed it, but it happened while we were in line to pick up our pictures. I think next time I’ll skip the pictures, we wasted valuable dance time!

It was a really fun event. I’d go again next year, if it’s an annual thing. I just hope they move it to the spring next time. Getting dressed up in gown with a long train is not ideal in the winter. I’m already thinking of ideas for next time, haha.

It snowed again yesterday into today. I ended up having to shovel this afternoon. I managed to shave 30 minutes off my Olympic speed shoveling record. But man, did I work up more of a sweat! At least I’m feeling better, I was sick earlier today. No fun!

THE VULGAR CACTUS

f352f9e55082f38611b858e2a75997fe

I needed a new summer wardrobe. So I got a bunch of cute things online. One of the items I picked, is an adorable cactus top. I thought it would be great for my upcoming desert adventure. My shirt came in recently and I decided to wear it to work. We happen to be having a spring social that day. It involved eating cheese and drinking beer. SCORE!
image
The social was at the end of the day. It was just a few departments that were invited to the social. But I guess the Prez of our company was able to join our little soiree! It was when I was near the Prez, that my co-worker decided to point out it looked like my shirt was flipping her off. I was like, WHAT?! I was a tad embarrassed that I didn’t notice the vulgar cactus. But I’m sure it wasn’t intentional, as the site I got it from doesn’t carry shirts with swears. It’s ModCloth for goodness sake!

Anyway, normally I wouldn’t have minded, but I had to zip up my hood so the Prez wouldn’t notice. I didn’t want to be the one that sparked a dress code! We are a pretty casual office, after all. I don’t think anyone actually thinks the shirt is flipping the bird, but I think I’ll save this beauty for the weekends.

LONG WEEKEND RECAP (PT 1)

20160419_095231

I had a nice long weekend, but it was super busy! Hence why I have to split my weekend recap into additional posts. I took Friday off, as I had to run errands and needed ample time to get ready for 80’s prom. I’m pretty sure I spent more time getting ready for 80’s prom, than I did for my proms in high school. I guess people in the 1980’s were very high-maintenance. They rocked teased hair, copious amount of hair spray, and wearing blush that blends all the way into the hair line. My makeup took me a little while, I decided to do rainbow eyes to match my dress. It came out pretty cool, but I suck at photographing eye shadow. So you’ll have to take my word on it.

20160419_095331

Anyway, Erin and I had our hair done by her mom. She did a great job! I really suck at doing anything beyond basik with my hair. So I was happy to get help! The prom itself was a blast! We met up with Jamie, Emily, and Lizz. There was a big group of people with us, so we had our own dancing circle.

20160419_095357

I wasn’t impressed with the special guests. The guests were Information Society and Shannon (a.k.a. Electric Slide lady). I guess Information Society was okay, it was hard to hear them in the back though. But we wanted to stay towards the back because it was a lot cooler. Shannon was disappointing because SHE DIDN’T PLAY THE ELECTRIC SLIDE! You had ONE JOB LADY!

The costumes people came with, were pretty impressive. However, the costume contest is a sham. I voted for the Goblin King, he did a fantastic job with his costume. A couple dressed as characters from the 2000 re-make of The Grinch Who Stole Christmas won. WHAT.THE.FUCK?! THAT’S NOT 1980’s! I’m actually still mad about this.
