WHEN YOU DON’T KNOW HOW TO GOTH, JUST DRESS LIKE A BIRD

wp-1489590064382.jpg

Sorry, I’ve been lacking in the posts this week, it’s been a busy one! But more on that later. Anyway, on Friday I attempted a Goth Night at a local music venue. I mentioned in another post about how I don’t know how to goth. haha! The event is held about once a month. It was really fun. I didn’t really know what to wear (duh), so I ordered some things online. I only ended up using the feather shawl, the rest of my getup consisted of things I already owned. I actually have a matching feather skirt, so it went nicely with the shawl.

Anyway, I turned up a little later than I had wanted. Mostly because I was panicking at what to wear. My friend and I stopped for a drink beforehand as well. That and I was having technical difficulties with my temporary tattoos staying intact. I probably shouldn’t have put makeup on before adding the tattoos, as they didn’t stick very well over foundation. Oh well, lesson learned for next time.

It was a really fun night. There was good tunes, and people had some really fun outfits. My “IDK how to goth, so here I am as a bird” outfit was a hit.  My friends and I had a lot of fun. We stayed until close, and the snow didn’t let up. Thankfully we all got home safely in our Uber.

THE PURGE!

image012

One of the good(?) things about moving is the panic-induced state forces me to purge things like crazy. I’m trying to dedicate some time this week to purging extra items I no longer see a use for. I have some wine and liquor I will never use. People love to give me wine or liquor as a gift. While I appreciate the sentiment, I don’t like wine, and I’m too lazy to mix my own drinks. So basically the booze just takes up valuable counter space until I can find a chance to give it away, or forget about it entirely. So picture it, my kitchen yesterday in the early evening.I’m dumping bottles of liquor down the drain. I finally get to a bottle of white wine my cousin gave me 2 years ago. I don’t know much about wine, I know you can age it. But frankly, it’s been sitting in my kitchen for two years, clearly I’m not going to ever use it. I had grand plans of making sangria, but that never happened. I do actually like sangria, mostly because the wine flavor is hidden.

So, after I was finished dumping liquor I got to the wine. Apparently it’s one of those nice wines that has a cork. I just realized I don’t actually OWN a wine cork. I thought I did, but no. I mean, Andy and I aren’t wine drinkers, so that is why we went 5 years living together without a cork screw. But I thought I at least had a courtesy one for guests? I’m a bad non-hostess! Just to clarify, Andy and I do drink. But we’re beer people. While I do like sangria and mixed drinks, I leave those to the experts at a pub to mix up for me. ANYWAY, I thought maybe using a steak knife would help me open the wine bottle. Not really. All I managed to do was chip away at the cork. I didn’t care, as I wasn’t going to drink it. But I got to the point where the cork was free and plopped directly into the bottle of wine. I splashed wine all over my face and counter! UGH.

After I was done dumping booze and making my kitchen smell like Barney Gumble threw up everywhere, I started clearing out the bedrooms. I dumped a huge contractor bag of stuff. Plus 2 bags of clothes and shoes to donate. I still want to donate more clothes, but I was too tired to finish digging around. This morning I dropped the donations off at a Planet Aid donation box. See guys, I’m helping the planet by de-hoarding! hahaha. It just stinks I still have to look for things to donate in the other rooms. I also have to start packing soon, yikes.

BLUE MONDAY

wp-1479130059698.jpg

Last week was a struggle, I don’t think it will necessarily get easier, due to REASONS. But I met up with some friends for drinks one night, we needed to get out of the house. I haven’t been to Harry’s in a while, and I really need to go more often. It’s a much better crowd than the watering hole I usually occupy.

Over the weekend, I finally got to see Erin. She gave me my Christmas gift early, it is awesome! It’s a really pretty sequin leopard print Gretchen Christine bag. We both love the Real Housewives, so I’m excited to have a RHOC bag. We decided to give Wahlburgers another try. We went to the original one in Hingham, MA and were not impressed AT ALL (read: we were served warm milk shakes). We actually ended up eating at Alma Nove, and the food was EXCELLENT. So if you’re in that area, go to Alma’s instead.

But they opened a Wahlburgers much closer to civilization. So we decided to try the new location. I’m glad we did, we both got the BBQ bacon burger (Donnie’s favorite) and it was really good. I will definitely go back again! We also did some shopping at Marshalls and the mall in the Pru. We ended up seeing The Accountant movie. It was okay, the beginning is very slow. I liked the ending though. But not sure I will opt to see it again when it’s on TV.

HELLO, BLOG!

wp-1474043477817.jpg

Sorry, I haven’t been blogging as much lately. I doubt anyone has noticed, so no harm there! Last weekend I celebrated my birthday. I was all “bah humbug”about it at first (because I don’t want to get old!), but we all had a very good time. I used the downstairs area of this new place called Article 24. I like the atmosphere there, and they have PARKING. Which is a rarity around here.

I went a little early and had dinner with friends. Once we were done eating, we took over the bar area. My friends began to shuffle in, and we had just enough seats at the bar for everyone. It got a little loud when two large parties sat down to eat, but they didn’t stay too long. We enjoyed some drinks, including ones that are set on fire. We ended the night at The Drop, which surprisingly wasn’t that crowded.

On Sunday, I didn’t go to the fashion swap because Andy and I went to the last day of the Brimfield Flea Market. We had a lot of fun spending the day looking around. We also got really amazing donuts, and hot dogs. I saw loads of interesting things for sale, but I was good and only bought a few things. I grabbed a couple of spin drums for myself and Erin. We are going to see if Ralph Macchio will sign them for us. haha!

MY HEART WILL GO ON…AND ON [VEGAS PT.3]

20151009_123306-COLLAGE

In an attempt to shorten these recaps, this is going to be my last one! So there will be more photo collages added, ye be warned! I just want to say, I broke my tradition of buying a fedora. I already bought one in NOLA earlier this year. Instead, I got myself a bejeweled cat-ear headband to wear everyday in Vegas. Anyway, we spent each morning by the pool, which was nice. We also went to see the resident flamingos at the hotel. While we were there, we got to take pictures with some macaws. It was hilarious! We were suckers and bought the whole set of pictures. Could you blame us, the birds are too funny!

One afternoon we headed to Mandalay Bay and The Luxor, we had tickets to Michael Jackson One. By the way, it was the best Cirque show I’ve seen yet, and it was the 6th time I’ve gone to Cirque. After picking up our tickets, we went to the shark reef at Mandalay Bay. I don’t know why I wanted to go so badly, aside from the fact I really like sharks. I thought it was like lot of things in Vegas, vastly overpriced. It was cool to see, but definitely very small. We tried to milk it, but had a really hard time staying a whole hour.

After that, we bought tickets to see the Titanic Artifact Collection and the Bodies Exhibit. Thankfully they have a combo ticket deal, and both exhibits are right next to each other at The Luxor. Unfortunately, we couldn’t take pictures in either exhibit, which was a little annoying. I have to say, the Titanic exhibit was really amazing and sad at the same time. It was also FREEZING! I think they kept it really cold for the full-immersion experience. Also, one of the rooms contained a man-made glacier. They also set up a replica balcony, that had a dark starry sky, like you were outside. They also re-built the grand staircase from the boat to spec. We had our pictures taken on the grand staircase, but I haven’t added them to my phone yet. So you’ll just have to deal with this gem of a photo. We laughed for about 20 minutes in the giftshop after viewing it. Oh yes, we also saw “the big piece” from the ship which was recovered from the ocean in 1998!

Once we finished, we went to the Bodies exhibit. Again, I was bummed I couldn’t take pictures. It was very fascinating! I’ve been meaning to see it over 10 years now, so I’m glad I finally got to check it off my list. They added special dyes to each area of the body, so each display almost looked like a work of art…instead of an actual dead human body. Erin was especially psyched since she happens to be taking an anatomy class this semester. So she definitely benefited from it. After the exhibits, we wandered around for a bit, got a yummy
sushi dinner, and saw MICHAEL JACKSON ONE!

During our last day in Vegas, we opted out of Old Vegas. As interesting as it is, there just isn’t a ton to do there. So we did the pool, then walked to a bunch of casinos on the The Strip. We also did some shopping…at the normal- people stores. Ain’t nobody got time for you, Yves Saint Laurent!

I THINK WE KNOW WHO THIS SUPER FAN’S PERSONAL JESUS IS!

image

We went to see Marilyn Manson last night and it was awesome! We started off with drinks and line-cutting at the Foundation Room. I guess some of the opening bands dropped out due to the 140″ of snow we got, and replaced with local a groups. I don’t blame them, I hate hate that snow shiz too. Not that I had plans to catch the openers anyway. Once the openers were done, we made our way down stairs to catch the show. We witnessed a super fan from across the venue, and we have no idea what happened to his shirt!

image

The Foundation Room is really interesting though. I’ve been there several times already, and always wonder how much their quilt wallpaper costs per square foot. I opted to wear my glitter rain boots to the show, but they aren’t really ideal for winter, since no insulation.  But there were people wearing practically nothing so I knew I was better off than them!

image

The show itself was good! He played a few good hits and I think some things from his new album. I need to check out the new album!

image

I think a lot of the pictures I took on my new phone came out pretty good! But I had to shut off the night mode feature because it made Marilyn Manson blend in with the spot lights, lol. I was jealous of the people that got confetti’d during the encore. Then again, that was in the pit area, and I don’t do mosh pits. After the show we went back to the Foundation Room for more drinks and there was a DJ  spinning industrial music and a lonesome goth girl dancing alone. We stayed until after midnight and I got to sleep in this morning. I wish I took Friday off instead of today from work though, we’re getting more snow and I don’t want to die trying to get home. I think Mother Nature has already shit on us enough, can we stop for the rest of the season?! I didn’t sign up for this end of days crap.

FRIDAY PHOTO DUMP

image

Since Andy is also on vacation, we went on an adventure to the aquarium! He hasn’t been back since he worked there, so we figured it was about time to check out the new exhibits. My favorite thing was the shark and ray touch tank. It was super crowded, but we managed to slip into a spot and I touched several sting rays and some sharks. The sharks were kinda rough, but sting rays were silky smooth. No idea why people want shark skin suits, sting ray suits are the way to go. Haha, just kidding PETA! I also got my jacket wet and had to wash it to get the ocean smell off. Oops!

image

The trip wouldn’t be complete until we see Myrtle the sea turtle. She is about 50 or 60 years old and has been at the aquarium since the 1970’s. She is the star of the giant ocean tank! We watched her eat some lettuce and float around. She is also the largest sea critter at the aq, weighing over 500lbs! We also went to see the octopus, Truman, but he is a popular guy. The crowds love his tender tentacles! After we finished polking around the aquarium, we grabbed lunch and went shopping.

image

Later that night we went to dinner. I had Lulu’s version of cheetos, crispy skin salmon, and a s’mores tart. Oh man, our dinner was delicious! I love going to Lulu’s! I got to wear my new sweater from Express and my glitter heels. The heels were quite comfortable and withstood a night of drinking and walking around. Afterwards we had drinks at our favorite watering hole. Overall, a great date night. Tonight we’re going to my brothers Festivus party. I have my crappy gift and grievances ready!
