BAKE EM’ AWAY, TOYS!

top-100-simpsons-quotes-73

I was trying to blog more, but I fell off the wagon. To be honest, I’ve been pretty boring the last few weeks anyway. Plus I caught a case of the writers block. I’ll be in Vegas in exactly one week with a group of friends. This will mark my 7th time there.  I said I wasn’t going to buy anything new, but 4 bathing suits (cheap ones at least), 4 pairs of sandals, some new tops, and an awesome pair of sunglasses later, here we are.  One of the last times I was there, they were filming an episode of Cops. I should have followed them around, that’s the real adventure there.

I normally try to avoid Vegas during the summer months, as it is an actual furnace. But alas, here we are, going in June. 😦  It’s going to be about 1000°, according my very scientific and not exaggerated calculations. Let’s give or take a degree or two. So I will be dressing like Cam from Modern Family. I asked to borrow my friends parasol, and she no longer has it. She did recommend a giant visor she just got, and it makes her look like a bee-keeper. But I declined. I already bought a giant new floppy sunhat (it’s sparkly!) when I was in the Bahamas. I’ll be taking that along. I do tan folks, but my tolerance for boiling to death is very low. Hence why I hope I’m able to enjoy myself without my sandals melting to the pavement.

MDW 2018

20180530_071413.jpg

It’s been a very busy month, so Andy and I decided to stay local for Memorial Day. Plus, there was really only one good weather day. We already have some good stuff planned for 4th of July, and some beach trips. So why waste time going someplace when we would only get one day of sun? We decided to take a 9 mile bike ride and it was actually fun. I wasn’t sure if I would survive. I just started bike riding again recently, after a 20 year hiatus. Wow, I sound so old right now. BRB, going to cry in a corner! But I survived and it was fun. Thankfully it was a lot cooler along the bike path and the sun wasn’t beating down on us.

I also hung out with my friend Erin over the weekend. We binged the rest of the episodes of Cobra Kai. I can’t wait for season 2! If you’re a Karate Kid fan, I recommend checking it out. Oh yeah, I also figured out where Swansea is over the weekend when I decided to take a random road trip there with my new car (his name is Sebastian aka Winter Solider).

I took a ride to see if I could meet Lisa Vanderpump, since I’m a big RHOBH fan.  She was making an appearance to promote her new rosé. I didn’t know what to expect. I also don’t understand why the hell this event was in Swansea. You would think they would do this much closer to Boston! We found out they were staying at a hotel in Boston anyway. Swansea is about an hour outside of Boston.

Anyway, if I had pre-planned it, I would have gotten up earlier and brought my beach chair. I also would have downloaded some movies to my tablet, and brought my giant battery charger. But alas, I wasn’t all that prepared. Thankfully I had the foresight to bring some water, umbrella, I dressed warm, and wore my heavier jacket. I got there about 15 minutes before the meet and greet. They were only guaranteeing the first 400 bottles sold, a spot to get the bottle autographed and picture taken with Lisa. When I pulled in, I knew there was well over 400 people in line. The line wrapped around the parking lot. I couldn’t get a good picture, but there is one of the crazy line in my collage.

My instinct was to turn around and go home after I saw the line. But I didn’t have anything else going on that morning, so I opted to stand in line and see what happens. They did say if she had time left after the initial 400 bottles, she would get pictures with as many people as she could. We did meet Jason in the parking lot (Lisa’s son-in-law). He was nice enough to greet the massive line. We stood in line for a little over 2 hours before we got close to the entrance. But we flagged down a woman who just left, and she said she was number like 240 or something. She was just over 50% done, after two hours. Lisa had to leave by 2 and it was already past 1pm at that point. I honestly don’t think she even had time to get thru the 400 people that were supposed to be “guaranteed” a spot. I left after that, I would be more upset if I was the back half of the 400 people and got turned away. BTW, some people lined up at 4am! WHAT THE SHIT?!! I don’t like anyone that much. Bitches be crazy!

She should have hired someone else to make things more efficient. I don’t understand why they didn’t have the bottles pre-signed?! She would have saved a ton of time that way. Also, it seems like they didn’t stop people from telling Lisa their life story once they approached her. They should have someone from Comic Con running that shit. At Comic Con photo ops, they don’t allow anyone to be there for more than 20 seconds. It ensures that everyone has a chance to meet the person and get their picture. It was poorly planned and in a very inconvenient location.

On the plus side, Andy and I had a date night on Memorial Day. We saw Solo and then went out for dinner and drinks. All in all, a successful weekend, despite the time suck that was a poorly-planned celebrity meeting.

IF YOU LIKE CORONORITA’S AND GETTING STUCK IN THE RAIN…

20180519_185843.jpg

We had a fun weekend. On Saturday, we met up with some friends for a local dinner. We then made our way down the street to visit a townie bar in my city. Andy keeps calling me a townie to get a rise out of me. It was working. I don’t have a problem with living back in my hometown, I prefer it over where I was living before. I just have a certain definition of a townie in my mind, and I’m not it. I always picture a townie as someone who has never left their city/town, frequents the local bars, probably has a beer gut, possibly a mullet, drives an I-ROC, and always speaks highly of their “glory days” in high school. I only live here and I do hang out at the local bars at times. But it will be a cold day in hell I ever grow a mullet!

When we got to the other bar to watch the game, I immediately spotted 5 people I graduated with. I wasn’t popular, or unpopular in high school. I pretty much swam the waves of mediocrity, haha. So I don’t expect  many people to remember me from high school, unless we were friends or acquaintances. So I was a bit surprised when someone remembered me. He and I chatted for a bit and it was good to catch up! Too bad the Celtics lost though.

On Sunday, I stopped by my parents house to wish my dad a happy birthday. I also owed my mom a ride in my new Jeep. So we went for a cruise around the block.  Andy and I caught a late afternoon showing of Deadpool 2 but we got soaked by a passing rain storm on the way in, but the movie was hilarious! I definitely recommend it.

JUST CALL ME VIOLET

giphy

Over the weekend, we celebrated Andy’s birthday. We went to Abe & Louie’s, and had a great steak dinner. We went with Ginny, Derek, and Brian. We ordered a TON of sides, and they were all delicious. We had some calamari, lobster mac and cheese, mushrooms, creamed spinach, and their bread rolls. I opted to get the Delmonico cut steak with cheddar cheese add on. It was delicious! I usually get filet, but I wanted to branch out. I ate too much, and blew up like Violet Beauregarde. Thankfully, Ginny is a hero and carries pepto in her purse, it really made me feel better.

After dinner, we went to Bond for drinks. It was surprisingly quiet there. Last time we went was right after my friends wedding, and the place was hoppin’. We saw a lot of hookers at the bar. There were none around this time, bummer! It’s always good people-watching.

A SUITE TIME

We got randomly invited to attend a Celtics game in a suite. The only drawback, I couldn’t go to my friends birthday paint night. I wanted to show up for a little bit, but I guess they open up the suite area early and they wanted us to arrive together. Andy was none too pleased that he couldn’t attend, as he is a much bigger Celtic’s fan than I’ll ever be. But it was people from work, so I could not get a plus one.

I haven’t gone to a suite in the Garden before, only the Red Sox. It was pretty similar experience. Each one has a private bathroom, free (to us) food (even sushi!), and booze. There is also seating in the front to watch the game, and some TV’s as well. Although, I don’t know if anyone actually watches the TV’s. Pretty awesome experience!

I stuffed myself with food and drinks while watching the game. A couple of us did end up leaving a little early, since it was a weeknight. I guess we probably should have stayed till the bitter end (and paid a ton in Uber surge fees, and sit in traffic on the pike for over an hour), since they ended up winning at the last second. Also, Andy was annoyed to see that I left before the game ended. I guess I’m not that good of a sports fan, hahaha!!

CALM DOWN, WILFORD BRIMLEY!

Screenshot_20180507-084411_Google.jpg

My friend and I took our annual casino trip over the weekend. It was also an inaugural trip with my fancy new Jeep. We wanted to get some pizza from Mystic Pizza, but it was not in the cards (so to speak). We usually plan these trips in April. Apparently in May is when all the people come crawling out of the woodwork, and take all of the parking spots in Mystic. RUDE. I’m sure even if we did find a spot, the wait for pizza would have been very long anyway. So we gave up and made our way to Mohegan. We were planning on going there anyway, but now were going for food as well.

20180507_133343.jpg

The good news, I finally got to try Hash House a Go Go. I’ve been meaning to try them for years, as there are two on the Vegas strip. But now I got to try them at a closer locale! The food was really good, but also huge. To the point where some of the dishes look like a puzzle you have to figure out how to eat.

20180507_133515.jpg

After Mohegan, we made our way to the hotel to unwind and get ready for dinner and shopping at Foxwoods. It was Cinco de Mayo weekend, so festivities were in full swing. When we got to the hotel, we had to stand in line to check in. This is where a very cranky Willford Brimley-like man in the lobby. He complained about the traffic. We sat in it as well, but don’t hear us complaining about it to people who don’t give a damn about your life story in line. He (of course) held up one of the desk attendants, with his various room requests. Buddy, it’s a fucking DAYS INN, save your laundry list of room requirements for the Ritz-Carlton! He was very adamant about having a non-smoking room, didn’t even want the room near the smoking rooms. This detail is key. The poor attendant even LEFT THE DESK to check the room was clean and didn’t smell like smoke.

We finally got checked in, by the other guy manning the desk. Since the first guy was busy making sure Wilford Crankyass, was all set with his fucking budget room. We got unpacked and ready for dinner at the other casino. I am feeble-minded and accidentally set the Uber to send us to the wrong casino. Thankfully my friend was paying attention, and I was able to change the destination. Ooops! Once we got there, we put our name in for dinner. But the guy wanted us to check back in a few minutes with him, when he had his iPad back. This was fine, except 30 seconds later, a huge swarm of people descended upon the host station like some biblical locust shit. We had to yell at people that tried to cut in front of us when confirming our reservation was set in the official iPad. Some people even had to be reminded, TWICE.  Yes, we are in fact, in front you in line so shut your pie hole! Casino people are so rude. Thankfully after that, we didn’t encounter any more line-cutters. We enjoyed some shopping, food, sombreros, and drinks.

Let’s cut to the next day. We both didn’t sleep great, so we opted to get the free breakfast at the hotel. All was fine, until Wilford Crankyass (surprisingly) still cranky, made his appearance. He cut off a few people waiting for the waffle-maker. Nobody said a word. Like what?! To add insult to injury, he also proceeded to make THREE WAFFLES.  What is this guys deal? Incredibly rude and self-centered. I can only assume he isn’t married, as I can’t imagine a person that could possibly tolerate him. Or maybe he ate his wife long ago, when she got too close to the waffle maker? Jury is still out on that. After breakfast, we packed up and headed home. However, we noticed ol’ Wilford in the parking lot, smoking a cigarette. I kid you not, the man who was bitching about a non-smoking room.

NO THANKS, SKYNET!

Capture

I picked up my new car yesterday, and I love it!! It’s going to take some getting used to, I’ve never owned an SUV before. I usually stick with sedans when I get a car. But I decided the time has come for something bigger. I didn’t realize the model I got comes with park assist. The salesperson at the dealership was trying to show me how to use it. I felt so UNCOMFORTABLE with this feature. It just freaks me out, so I will probably not use it. Not today, Skynet!
