OH HEY, 2018!

IMG_5864-COLLAGE

I’ve been super lazy about updating my blog for a couple of months. At first I blamed the holiday season, but now that it’s well past the holidays, we can just blame laziness. I might do a few recaps of what I did over the holidays, but I probably won’t get around to it. Haha! So let’s just start with the weekend. It was a long weekend, which was nice! I went to a car show on Saturday, it was pretty cool to check out all the cars.  There was also an RV part, but we didn’t have tickets for it. Maybe next year we will check it out.

IMG_5885-COLLAGEThat night, we went out for food and drinks to watch the Patriots game. I was supposed to meet up with friends after, but I was too cold and tired to leave my spot at the bar.

On Sunday, Andy and I went to the Mapparium. I finally got to use my new DSLR camera I got fromAndy Claus. Which reminds me, I need to sell my old one on eBay. I was in need of an upgrade. Anyway, while I was allowed to take pictures inside the Mary Baker Eddy library, they do not permit pictures inside the Mapparium. I didn’t realize this! I also didn’t realize it is a library dedicated to the founder of Christian Science movement. While it’s not my religion, it was interesting to find out how it came to be. I just wasn’t expecting this, haha! I guess I should have researched this more. But I was dazzled by the giant glass globe.

The Mapparium is a giant glass globe with a glass bridge across the center you can walk thru. It was built in the 1930’s. Each glass panel was hand-painted and cured in an oven. The acoustics inside are crazy! My voice sounded super loud in the center. Anyone standing on the outside could hear people whispering clearly. Since they don’t allow pictures, I used their selfie wall to get pictures. I was tempted to sneak some inside with my phone, but the guide seemed to be pretty watchful, and I didn’t want to get called out.

After we got back from the Mapparium and lunch in the area, I went to see I, Tonya. I really liked it! I do feel really bad for Nancy Kerrigan. I’m sure she didn’t anticipate for the world to re-live her pain 24 years later. Also, I recall back in 2010  tragedy struck her family. Her brother assaulted her father to the point where he passed away. So sad!

REVIEW: FENTY BEAUTY GALAXY COLLECTION

20171023_135748.jpg

I just realized I haven’t done a beauty review in FOREVER. So I thought I’d select one of my recent Sephora hauls to discuss. I already bought some Fenty Beauty pieces before, so I knew I liked the quality (I’m kinda fighting with the highlighters, but we’re working things out). So I thought I’d check out the limited edition holiday 2017 collection. I’m so glad I did!

20171023_135850.jpg

I tend to panic-purchase when things are “limited edition” and “limited quantity.” So it’s no surprise I opted to try a few things from the collection. I had to get the Galaxy Eyeshadow Palette ($59). I haven’t fully played around with it, but using a “glitter glue” eyeshadow primer is recommended. I personally use the Too Faced Shadow Insurance Glitter Glue. I believe ELF and NYX make a more affordable version, but I haven’t tried them. I really hate spending more than $40-$50 on an eyeshadow palette, but it got good reviews. The colors are so pretty in person, the pictures from my phone do this zero justice. They are so much more vibrant in person! I will post pictures of an eye look when I have a chance, I will probably use it for Halloween.

In addition to the eyeshadow, I picked up all three colors of the 2-in-1 Glitter Release eyeliner. I thought the “Nepturnt” and “Alien Bae” colors looked very similar when I first swatched them. But when they are dry, you rub them to reveal the glitter. Once I did that, you can see the colors are different. Not sure I will use “Later, Crater” as an eyeliner, as I don’t like using light colors as eyeliner. But it is so pretty, I will try it out as an eyeshadow on the inner corners.

A BEWITCHING TIME!

20171008051725.JPG

I always buy tiny hats, so I picked up a couple in Salem!

Erin and I decided last month that we should figure out a time to go to Salem. I haven’t been in years, and she hasn’t gone EVER! So we got there a bit early, traffic was terrible trying to get to the parking garage. It was also raining while we were trying to find our sci-fi themed pizza place we scoped out a few weeks back. The pizza was decent. Thankfully it stopped raining by the time we got out of lunch. Also, it didn’t rain for the rest of the day, hooray!

After the pizza, we made our way to the Peabody-Essex museum to check out the “It’s Alive!” exhibit, it was awesome! I may have had a tad too much fun using Snapchat filters on the scary faces.

After the museum, we visited the House of Seven Gables. It was very interesting! We visited the house and Nathaniel Hawthorne’s childhood home. It was also very crowded, but we managed to get ourselves onto a tour of the home. Basically everyone visits Salem in October, so crowds were to be expected. I think we lucked out going on a Sunday though.

After the museum, we did some shopping. We also stopped by the Salem Witch Trials museum to nab a time slot for later on that day. It’s good that we did, as the museum sold out later that day. We had dinner at Bonchon, and got ourselves some fried dough for dessert. I also may have purchased two tiny witch hats. The one in the picture is larger, the other is only 3″ tall. So cute!

The Witch Trials museum is the same from what I remembered. I haven’t been there since our 7th grade trip to Salem, haha. All in all, a very fun day! I can’t wait to go back next year.

THE WEIRDEST NEW YEARS

I was reminiscing the other night, about the weirdest New Years Eve I’ve had (thus far). Picture it, Natick, 2007ish. I was either in college, or fresh out. Andy was invited to this house party from a vague acquaintance. This friend lived at the house.
Andy and one of his friends had already arrived at party, before I got there. I parked my car on the dead end street and began walking around trying to find the house. Strange occurance one, I almost walked into the wrong home. I saw a man from the neck down with Andy’s build through a window wearing a shirt Andy owns. I was about to open the door, when I realized the house was much too quiet to be a party. Also, Andy thankfully had called me back at the his point. He was waiting for me outside.

So we started things off with some pitch black beer pong in the driveway. 90% of the game was spent trying to find the ping pong balls in the dark. There was also a sketchy ice luge. Oh joy! So after a failed attempt at blind beer pong, we ventured indoors, through a backdoor made of ply wood. So safe!

Once inside, we found Andy’s friend he arrived with, in the living room watching a Three Stooges marathon. There was also an elder poker game happening in the next room, that we weren’t allowed to disturb under any circumstances. Wtf? So we decided to hang out in the freezing cold kitchen. It turns out, plywood doors aren’t terribly insulating, who would have thought?!

I had to use the bathroom. That was an adventure in itself. It was located next to the plywood backdoor. It also had a sliding door, sporting a large hole in it. Glad to see these people value privacy. So Andy had to stand in front of the bathroom for me. At some point, we met the other roomates. They are are crackhead married couple. Anyone surprised? At this point, I wasn’t.

They were nice enough though. But Andy turned down the offer to be their new roommate, and share a bedroom with his friend. Praise Jesus! Then a guy resembling a hippie wacky waving inflatable tube man, entered the kitchen with his deck of Tarot cards. He gave people free readings in an animated matter. I can only vaguely imitate him, and that would be in person. Words only fail to describe his persona.

At some point, I met Andy’s friend that was hosting the party. He was actually LEAVING HIS OWN PARTY to attend another one. Duhfuck?! It was getting close to midnight at this point. But nobody was doing a countdown. So I left shortly after, mostly because I had to pee again, and didn’t want to use the glory hole bathroom.

Andy walked me back to my car, I parked towards the start of the street. The house was toward the end. There was a man in the front yard that was chuckling, “crazy party, right?” I said yeah, and continued to slowly walk to my car with Andy. Then the guy (who I assumed was a party goer, but actually was the next door neighbor) flipped a switch and started yelling at us about a car blocking part of his driveway. I was like, “I don’t live here and/or care. Call the cops or something, I’m leaving.” The guy didn’t seem to like this solution, or the more obvious answer of going in the house and asking about the car. So yup, definitely one for the books, or blog.

FESTIVUS FOR THE REST OF US

I’m taking a break from being lazy and blogging. Last week, I celebrated Festivus with some friends. Andy and I woke up early and went to Providence.  We visited his friends tattoo parlor,  so he could finish his ink.  I got a consult as well. The area is really cute,  and we had lunch after.

That night we started off with dinner at Bar Louie. Jamie and I exchanged our Christmas gifts. I got some nice perfume and a lipstick palette!  Thanks,  Jamie!  I got a Festivus sangria to celebrate the occasion.  After dinner,  we meet up with my friend during her impromptu high school reunion.  It was a lot of fun. The bar played good music and we took up most of the bar!

CHRISTMAS IS LIKE HERE??!!

So I’m just realizing Christmas is SUNDAY! Like, what?! I HAVEN’T EVEN DECORATED YET! Not that I go nuts with decorating. All we do is put up a tree and ornaments. Then I hang some stockings, and tinsel around the mantel.

But we now give Zorro (almost) full run of the apartment while we’re out. I fear he’ll eat the fake tree and poop out blue holographic fake pine well into the New Year. Plus break my R2D2 ornaments. R2Tree2 would be ruined! Also, it’s laziness at this point.

Anyway, I finished shopping in November. I also wrapped gifts a couple weeks ago. So I’m definitely ready for this Christmas business, even if my apartment isn’t. As for me, I bought myself a peachy Christmas treat! I already had the Too Faced Sweet Peach eyeshadow pallette. Now I added on the Papa Don’t Peach blush, and Peach Glow highlighter kit. Plus I got a gorgeous deep plum Urban Decay lipstick, and Boscia wipes. Treat yo self! I should probably get myself some new underwear too. I also have dump some of my old ones, that have rips in them. Haha

PARTY TIME

It’s been a crazy month filled with holiday parties and such. So blogging has taken a back seat. Last night I went to a customer appreciation party at our local watering hole. It was filled with free drinks, billiards, and a Santa Pikachu!

This week my work moved offices. I love the new office! I mean, it has little to do with the fact my commute is 10 minutes instead of 35! I didn’t realize I’d been driving there almost seven years, until I did the math. Yeah, math isn’t my strong suit. More on the new office later, gotta save up some blog content for another day.

I haven’t been in the office any Friday this month. It’s pretty sweet. I also took the last week of the month off, so score!
