LET’S REVIEW!

I just noticed I haven’t reviewed anything in a while. Oops! Well we can fix that. I got a bunch of things from Sephora over the last few months. So I’ll talk about a few of them right now, and save some for later. I started using the Farsali “Rose Gold Elixir” and it’s my favorite thing ever right now. The consistency is more of an oil. I generally use it at night and even put a tiny bit on my lips. I don’t actually know if you’re supposed to apply to lips, but I do. Let me tell you, it works miracles! I only use it once a day, so hopefully I won’t die if I continue to use it on my lips. It also does wonders for my skin. My skin feels plump, smooth, and moisturized in the morning. Bonus, there are tiny 24k gold flecks in the oil and you can use it as a makeup primer. Makes me feel so glam! Which reminds me, I need to review the Peter Thomas Roth “24K Gold Pure Luxury Lift & Firm Prism Cream” at some point. I’ve been using that in the morning on top of my moisturizer. I think my goal in life is to look as youthful as C3PO? haha!

Next up is the Belif “Peat Miracle Revital Eye Cream.” I always confuse Belief with Philosophy, they have similar packaging. I’ve only used this cream a few times, so I can’t say how well it works long-term. I’m waiting to use up my current eye cream before switching. But the consistency isn’t very creamy at all. It’s almost like a gel. So it’s not watery-looking, but a bit heavy. I don’t mind the texture, I actually don’t need a lot so I feel like it will help people use less product. It’s also a bit pricey, so it’s good that you don’t need to use a lot. I did find it moisturizes really well. I only have some fine lines and wrinkles, which are mostly caused from squinting a lot. Oops! I didn’t notice if it helped or not, but I generally only notice the lines when I apply powder makeup, or use a heavy concealer. So I think the heavy consistency will help makeup not settle into lines around my eyes.

I just got the Ciate “Dewy Stix.” I have an addiction to highlighters, so I had to try this. It’s not glittery like a typical highlighter, it’s more of a subtle shimmer. It is supposed to make your skin more dewy. It does that pretty well. It’s good for times when you want a subtle glow, and not look like a show pony. You can also use it to enhance your highlighter. The product can be used under any powder highlighter, which is cool. I haven’t tested this part yet, but I’ll try to report back when I do.

REVIEW: Valentia Skin Detoxifying Clay Mask #Brandbacker #Valentiabeauty

20160502_093207

I was selected by Brandbacker and Valentia to try the new Skin Detoxifying Clay Mask. I was very excited to be selected to test out this new product. I love using masks, so I jumped at the opp to use this one. It’s very easy to use, I washed then dried my face, and applied the mask. The clay has a bit of a scent to it, but it faded quickly when it was applied. I like that this mask has scrubbing beads built in, so you can exfoliate while you are rinsing the mask off. I left it on for about 20 minutes, rinsed/exfoliated. My skin tone looked much more even, after one use. I can’t wait to continue to use this mask!
Ingredients:
Skin Detoxifying Clay Mask – Natural and Organic Ingredients – With Kaolin Clay, Hisbiscus & Cranberry Fibers

Specially selected ingredients work together to achieve optimum results.

– Kaolin Clay:Clay minerals draw impurities, improve skin tone, and tighten pores for smoother firmer skin.

– Plant Stem Cells:Naturally decreases the level of pro-aging toxins and works to soother the skin, reduce redness, and improve evenness.

– Spirulina: A botanical stimulant full of vitamins that hydrates the skins surface and contributes to tissue regeneration of the skin.

– CoQ10: Lessens the appearance of wrinkles by reducing free radical damage and stimulating health collagen production.

– Hibiscus & Cranberry Fibers: Both lend their anti-aging properties to firm and reinforce the skin, helping to reduce the creation of new wrinkles.

FRIDAY FUN AND MY FAVORITE FACE CLEANSERS

Capture

It’s finally Friday, praise Jebus! I decided to share my favorite makeup removers/cleansers. I checked out micellar water, after hearing so much about it. So what IS micellar water? It’s made up of micelles (tiny balls of cleansing oil molecules) suspended in soft water. These balls help to draw dirt and makeup from your skin, somehow. It’s like science or whatever. I was (of course) skeptical, Thinking it wouldn’t really work that well.

But alas, I went to Target, and picked some up. Many different brands offer micellar water, so you should have no problem finding some to try. I’ve even seen it at Ulta as well, in a huge container. I opted for a regular-sized container, thinking I would just use it as an eye makeup remover. I was pleasantly surprised at the results. The water actually removed my eye makeup and regular make up better than a liquid makeup remover. That was pretty amazing to me! It also left my skin feeling soft. This cleansing water is perfect for people with sensitive skin as well, since it’s just water. I also liked it for my oily skin.

t

Now onto my favorite facial cleansing wipes. I’ve only used drugstore brand face wipes, and one from Josie Maran. None of these compare to Skyn Iceland Glacial Cleansing Cloths! I know they are fudging expensive compared to drugstore brands, but they are worth every last penny to me. I only need one wipe to get all my makeup off. These wipes always feel very moist and foamy, unlike other wipes that tend to feel dry. I can’t say enough about these. But to save them, I rotate between micellar water and these wipes to remove makeup. Both work great and I refuse to give up one or the other, just to continuously use one product.

Anyway, I’m so happy it’s Friday. I’m going bowling tonight and will be eating a mac & cheese hamburger. I also have plans to check out a Korean restaurant where we’ll be grilling our own food at the table. I seem to like places where I cook my own food, Andy thinks it’s weird. I don’t blame him, it is kinda odd to pay money to cook my own food at a restaurant. But it can be a fun experience!

BEAUTY IS PAIN, I GUESS

Capture

I seem to be spending more time/money at Sephora these days. I guess since I stopped being an Avon rep, I have to fill the beauty product void somehow. I’ve always been interested in trying new beauty products anyway. This one isn’t really new to me, per-se. I bought the Boscia Luminizing Black Mask from Sephora years ago, when they first started carrying it. I used it several times, but I think I ended up tossing it when I moved. I don’t recall having any issues with it the first time I bought it.

venom-transform

This mask made me feel like Venom from Spiderman

This time, I found it really painful to remove. I remember it being a slight pain to remove last time, but not to this extent. I’m going to blame my application and the face wash I used. I used my Clean & Clear Essentials Foaming Facial Cleanser, which can be a bit drying. That coupled with the wrong application, could have lead to the removal being difficult. You are supposed to use a thick/opaque layer. I thought I did enough, but I don’t think the layer was suitable. Also, I will be sure not to get it close to my hair line either. It ended up pulling some hair from the side of face off, haha! Given these application issues, I will definitely be trying it again.

Despite that, I did notice my skin looking a bit more even toned. The product itself is easy to squeeze out of the tube. It has a thick but smooth consistency, it feels kind of cool actually! It did remind me of Venom from Spiderman, haha! I think with prolonged use, my skin will look more luminous. I’m definitely going to give it another try. If I still don’t like it, I’ll return it. But I’m sure it will be fine, as I didn’t have issues the first time I used it years back.

VALENTIA TRUE GLOW EYE CREAM AND ULTRA PLUMPING HYDRATION MASK #BrandBacker #Valentia

I was invited by BrandBacker and Valentia to try their True Glow Eye Cream and Ultra Plumping Hydration Mask. Before I give my review, I’m going to explain the ingredients in each product and some background info on Valentia!

The True Glow Eye Cream,  is a luxurious antioxidant rich eye cream. It helps lock in moisture, repair, and tighten skin. All  for a youthful looking glow around the eye area. The Ultra Plumping Hydration Mask is a blend of amino acids and hyaluronic acid. These work together to flood the skin with moisture, which provides intense hydration and nourishment.

My Review:
2016-02-05 18.16.30
I personally loved both of these products. I’ve been using the eye cream twice daily. It has a light scent and an orange hue. But the cream doesn’t leave an orange hue on the skin once applied. I found my eye area to appear tighter. I also noticed the dark spots under my eyes are fading a little. It leaves my skin very moisturized throughout the day, I also think it works great under my makeup. It helps provide a moisturized and smoothing base for my concealer and foundation. I can’t wait to keep using it!

I love me a good mask! This one goes on fairly clear, you can’t really tell I’m wearing a mask, aside from a very slight orange hue. The mask has given me great results. I found my skin to be smoother, more taut, and moisturized. Plus the next morning, I noticed it helped reduce redness and pimple size. Awesome! The mask does have a slight fragrance, but it didn’t bother me. I can’t wait to keep using it, as I love using masks.

LUSHIOUS HAIR!

2016-01-29 12.25.35

My hair feels and smells amazing, you guys!

It was about time to replenish some of my favorite items from Lush. While I was at it, I added a few new things to my cart to try. This haul I picked up some, Handy Gurugu cream, Mint Julips lip scrubOcean Salt cleanser,  Jungle solid conditioner, Jason & the Argan Oil solid shampoo, Mask of Magnaminty, and some tins for the soaps.

I love the handy cream as it contains a lot of cocoa butter and it keeps my hands nice and moist. I mostly use it before bed in the winter months. So it actually takes me a while to use up the whole tub. I also ran out of my favorite lip scrub. I only get the mint flavor, but they offer other flavors as well. My favorite part, the scrub is edible! So you can lick  your lips when you’re done.

I finally ran out of the ocean salt scrub, so I picked up another batch. I’ve been using the self-preserving kind, but I don’t like it as much as the regular ocean salt scrub, so I switched back. I love how it tingles when you use it and it smells great too!

I finally decided to dip my toe into the solid shampoo and conditioners. I’m trying them out for when I travel.  I usually do carry-on only when I fly because it’s easier/cheaper. So switching to solid shampoo and conditioner will save more space in my tiny ziplock bag for other liquids. I have to say, I actually love solid shampoo and conditioner way more than I thought. I’m considering switching to them full-time, once I use up my fancy color-care shampoo. The solid shampoo is a learning curve though, I used way to much my first time thinking it would take forever to lather. That was not the case! I will need to be more careful next time and only use a small amount. The conditioner is great too! It’s difficult to gauge how much to use, but my hair wasn’t a tangle when I got out of the shower, so I think I’m good. Side note, my hair smells, feels, and looks amazing! I may be addicted to their shampoo and conditioners now. Plus I noticed little to no hair breakage. That is huge because my thick hair sheds like crazy.

Lastly, I got some more Mask of Magnaminty. I haven’t used it in a long time, but I’m on a mask kick, so picked some up. I love the tingle of this mask and skin feels great after! Now I have to plot what other shampoo and conditioners to try next.

SEPHORA, I ADORA!

IMG_20160125_205841

Last week I got some goodies from Sephora to try! I was intrigued by the Murad acne set, F.A.B. Radiance Pads, GLAMGLOW GRAVITYMUD Firming Treatment [bonus it’s silver, so I can look like the tin man!], and the GLAMGLOW SUPERMUD Clearing Treatment.

I haven’t tried the acne kit yet, as I’m waiting to use up my current stock. I use the F.A.B Radiance Pads every morning and like the results. I decided to cut the pads in half, so this supply should last me a long time.  I like the F.A.B. products I’ve used so far. Bonus, they are a company that is local to me. So I’m happy to support a local business while I’m at it.

IMG_20160125_183752

I also bought some terribly expensive GLAMGLOW muds. I’ve heard wonders about their mud masks, and I’m a sucker for a good mask! I’ve only tried the SUPERMUD so far and really like it. I can tell from the smell it contains tea tree oil, so keep that in mind if you are sensitive to it. It can be a bit strong for some skin types, but it’s fine for me. You are supposed to use it a 2-3 times a week. But given the cost and how effective it seems after just two uses, I’ll stick with once a week. Plus, I have the GRAVITYMUD that I’d like to use once a week too.

I’m getting old, so I figure I should try some anti-wrinkle products for it’s too late for me. Thankfully I still have the skin of a 17 year-old fry cook, so my skin issues are all blemish-related. I will say the SUPERMUD seems to be helping! I have oily skin, so I don’t feel like it dries out my skin, but you do feel it tingle when it starts to dry. I’ll report back when I’ve tried the acne kit and the GRAVITYMUD.
