I mentioned in another post how I went to a balloon festival while I was in Vermont. It reminded me of the time a hot air balloon had to emergency land in my neighbors yard. I was about 6 or 7 years old at the time. I was minding my own business, riding my bike by myself up and down the block. All of a sudden, I noticed a hot air balloon slowly make its approach down my street. I was the first to spot it. I didn’t realize it wasn’t a planned landing. As a kid, I thought these poor folks just wanted to land on our street. So I watched them approach and realized they were in trouble! It seemed to me, they ran out of fuel or the balloon had a leak.
My best friend, who lived across the street, happened to be away on a family vacation. So she wasn’t there to witness a hot air balloon crash land in her next door neighbors back field. It was such a strange sight! Before I knew it our small suburban street, was filled with on-lookers and (I think) news vans. Luckily the people piloting the balloon were okay. It was good our neighbor (who also wasn’t home at the time) had a big yard for the balloon to land in. It was definitely a bizarre sight. It’s also a reason why I’ll never go on a hot air balloon ride. Although, I’d consider a tethered one if they weren’t so pricey.
Between going to the Bahamas, Vegas, and Vermont, I’ve developed quite the tan this summer (for me). Normally I try not to tan, but I didn’t have much choice this year. I’ve been using sunblock when I remember, and haven’t gotten a burn at least. Anyway, Andy and I just got back last night from an awesome trip to Burlington Vermont. It’s one of my favorite places. This time we splurged and stayed at a hotel downtown, so all the bars and restaurants are walking distance. The weather was absolutely beautiful, we lucked out.
It was really hot there on Thursday, so we didn’t do too many outdoor activities. We (finally) went on the murder mystery lake cruise! It was a fun dinner cruise with a local theater company. Each week they change the mystery. This time it was a pirate theme, which is perfect. Andy and I made some initial guesses who the killer was going to be. I was actually right, and should have stuck to my guns.
The next day, we got bikes from our hotel and went on one half of the bike trail. We checked out this giant sundial along the water, it was really pretty! We also did our third Magic Hat brewery tour, it was fun. I tried some new beers, my favorite being Hocus Pocus. We went downtown for dinner, and I had some amazing kielbasa at the Farmhouse Tap & Grill. I recommend this place, if you’re ever in the Burlington Vermont area.
The next day, we decided to rent bikes along the waterfront. I regret this choice, as the bikes were heavy AF and refused to glide. So we did the other half of the bike trail, and did 10 miles total. My legs were ready to give way by the end of it, I would have been fine if we had used a standard mountain bike. We did spend our nights getting drinks at various places downtown. One of my favorites is the arcade. We also went to a balloon festival in Stowe. It was really cool! I brought my new DSLR with zoom lens for the occasion. Unfortunately, my stupid memory card is old and on it’s last leg. So it didn’t save some of my pictures. I’m ordering a new one from Amazon.
Oh yeah, before we left for Vermont, we rode bikes to check out local fireworks. It was a good choice, as the streets were very crowded, and traffic was terrible. We were able to zip around it on our bikes.

I went to Vegas with a group of friends a little over a week ago. It was a lot of fun! One of the highlights was going to old Vegas, and having a giant preying-mantis sing Queen to us.
We spent a lot of time at the pool, it was a billion degrees. One day we got a day bed, the other we got ritzy and rented a cabana. Money well-spent. We also upgraded our room. We had 2 TV’s, a living room, and nice view. I usually stay at the Flamingo, but we ended up at The Linq, which is next door.
Adventures included burning to death, Vegas at night, and some light sun-poisoning. Thankfully I didn’t get a sunburn. I was pretty vigilant with the sunscreen.
Pardon me, I like to make weird faces in pictures!
We also went on the high roller. I’ve been on it before, but it’s still fun. Would I do it a third time? Probably not.
Next time I go, I’m spending most of my time in Old Vegas. It’s basically how Vegas is supposed to be. I also got to check out the Neon Museum at night. I’ve only gone during the day, and it gets quite hot there. It’s a cool place filled with old neon signs. One of my friends couldn’t join this time, due to her class schedule. So we’re going to plan a trip when she is done with school.
I can’t believe tomorrow is Independence Day! I have a fun trip planned filled with hot air balloons, and brewery tours.

I was trying to blog more, but I fell off the wagon. To be honest, I’ve been pretty boring the last few weeks anyway. Plus I caught a case of the writers block. I’ll be in Vegas in exactly one week with a group of friends. This will mark my 7th time there. I said I wasn’t going to buy anything new, but 4 bathing suits (cheap ones at least), 4 pairs of sandals, some new tops, and an awesome pair of sunglasses later, here we are. One of the last times I was there, they were filming an episode of Cops. I should have followed them around, that’s the real adventure there.
I normally try to avoid Vegas during the summer months, as it is an actual furnace. But alas, here we are, going in June. 😦 It’s going to be about 1000°, according my very scientific and not exaggerated calculations. Let’s give or take a degree or two. So I will be dressing like Cam from Modern Family. I asked to borrow my friends parasol, and she no longer has it. She did recommend a giant visor she just got, and it makes her look like a bee-keeper. But I declined. I already bought a giant new floppy sunhat (it’s sparkly!) when I was in the Bahamas. I’ll be taking that along. I do tan folks, but my tolerance for boiling to death is very low. Hence why I hope I’m able to enjoy myself without my sandals melting to the pavement.

I figure I should probably blog about my fun trip to Arizona, before I forget what I did. Anyway, we mostly stayed in Flagstaff and Phoenix. These cities have vastly different temperatures. When we arrived in Phoenix, I was boiling to death. Flagstaff was about 30 degrees cooler. But I still wore shorts or dresses during the day. The cold didn’t really get to me until the night hours, where things drastically cool down in the mountains. Flagstaff was gorgeous, I also liked the hotel we stayed in. The rooms were a bit retro, but HUGE. So I wasn’t complaining. The hotel itself is very nice. They have beautiful grounds, attached hiking trails, and a nice pool area.
We did end up spending a day in Sedona. We mostly wandered around and enjoyed the rock formation views. I did a vortex Jeep tour, but didn’t feel any of the “healing” vibes you are supposed to when you visit each site. No matter, the views were fantastic and glad we got to see the vortex areas. The food was good as well. While we didn’t eat at the only McDonald’s to have turquoise arches, but we did get a nice steak from a restaurant that boasts great views.
The whole reason for the trip was to go to a friends wedding. The wedding was at the hotel we were staying at, and it was awesome. I was so happy to see my friends get married. It also made me excited for my wedding next year. The ceremony was beautiful and the reception was so fun. I also cactused the crap out of myself. I wore a cactus dress, cactus necklace, and had cactus Jamberry wraps on my nails.
Another day, we went to Bearizona. It’s a drive-thru wildlife park. That was a cool experience, as I’ve never done a drive-thru park before. We saw wolves, bears (duh), donkeys, buffalo, goats, and all sorts of critters. The park also has a walk-around area, that is basically like a zoo. That was fun to walk through as well. I made friends with a peacock, who was jonesin’ for some French fries. All in all, a fun time!
By the time we headed back to Phoenix, we were pretty tired. We didn’t do much aside from hanging by the pool, and going out for food and drinks. As fun as the trip was, I’m happy to be back home. Arizona was way to dry for me, I woke up everyday feeling like I swallowed a bucket of sand. Normally the desert doesn’t bother me that much. I go to Vegas around once a year, and the air didn’t bother me quite as much as it does in Arizona.
I’m so happy it’s Friday. Tonight I’m going to a friends birthday party. But tomorrow I’m going to a comic con, and I’m super excited about it. My friend and I have been talking about it non-stop.

I forgot to post about my awesome hair, haha. I went to the salon over the weekend to get my hair done. I had her touch up the purple and add a layer of blue. There isn’t much contrast between the two colors, but I dig it. I don’t think the blue will last as long as the purple, but no matter. It seriously looks like I’m trying to make bath tub wine when I wash my hair. The dye gets everywhere. I can’t even have my nails painted a light color because the dye will turn my nails purple. It’s kind of unnerving, but beauty is sacrifice!
Anyway, I finally booked my flights for our vacation in September.Apparently Andy thought I booked them weeks ago, oops! We’re going on a really awesome desert adventure, plus a wedding. We have a laundry list of things to check out like, the Grand Canyon, Sedona, ghost towns, hot air balloon, observatory, and a trip to that abandoned plane field as featured in Can’t Buy Me Love! We will be renting a car and cruising around America’s South West. In addition to flights, I also booked some hotels for my other summer adventures. I can’t wait to go to the beach and hang with friends this summer!
Wrapping up my weekend adventures, we woke up early the next morning. We wanted to squeeze in the Submarine Force Museum, Mystic Pizza, and Mystic Aquarium before heading back home. The submarine museum was very cool! It was also a very Andy thing to check out on his birthday weekend.
The museum itself was interesting. They have a mock control-room area where they have periscopes set up that over look the area outside the museum. After we finished touring the inside, we actually got to tour the USS Nautilus SSN-571 submarine. It was really cool inside, and they show how the crew live aboard a sub. I’m a petite person, and even I struggle to see how grown men can comfortably fit aboard. So to that I say, better them than me!
After the museum, we made our way to the Mystic Aquarium. I’m going to level with you, I really just wanted to go to see my whale friends again. I love the beluga whales so much. They even gave me the opp to take a selfie (whalefie) with them again. I was very excited, probably more excited than the kids at the aquarium.
