Sorry, I’ve been lacking in the posts this week, it’s been a busy one! But more on that later. Anyway, on Friday I attempted a Goth Night at a local music venue. I mentioned in another post about how I don’t know how to goth. haha! The event is held about once a month. It was really fun. I didn’t really know what to wear (duh), so I ordered some things online. I only ended up using the feather shawl, the rest of my getup consisted of things I already owned. I actually have a matching feather skirt, so it went nicely with the shawl.
Anyway, I turned up a little later than I had wanted. Mostly because I was panicking at what to wear. My friend and I stopped for a drink beforehand as well. That and I was having technical difficulties with my temporary tattoos staying intact. I probably shouldn’t have put makeup on before adding the tattoos, as they didn’t stick very well over foundation. Oh well, lesson learned for next time.
It was a really fun night. There was good tunes, and people had some really fun outfits. My “IDK how to goth, so here I am as a bird” outfit was a hit. My friends and I had a lot of fun. We stayed until close, and the snow didn’t let up. Thankfully we all got home safely in our Uber.

Remember how Monday I was all, “I’m gloriously full of sleep?” Yeah, me either. Back to the being tired thing, I guess. It’s been a busy week. I’ve been trying to find a balance of going out, but also trying to purge my apartment. So that means sleep must be sacrificed. I already have plans for the next several nights, so doesn’t look like sleep is happening any time soon. Also, I basically have to dress like goth Thor on Friday night, depending on when my order arrives. That should be…interesting?
My friend invited me to a viking goth night. I get the goth night, but the viking element is odd. It’s like, oh let’s have a cheese and batteries party! I’ll be out of my element there, I like to wear color. So wearing all-black will be different for me. I’d label myself as a glitter-rainbow-goth. Is that a thing? It should be! The good news, I have loads of makeup options at home. Let’s just hope the rest of my stuff arrives on time. I think my outfit will be funny, because I can’t take anything seriously. This little lady can’t be a serious viking-goth.
One of the good(?) things about moving is the panic-induced state forces me to purge things like crazy. I’m trying to dedicate some time this week to purging extra items I no longer see a use for. I have some wine and liquor I will never use. People love to give me wine or liquor as a gift. While I appreciate the sentiment, I don’t like wine, and I’m too lazy to mix my own drinks. So basically the booze just takes up valuable counter space until I can find a chance to give it away, or forget about it entirely. So picture it, my kitchen yesterday in the early evening.I’m dumping bottles of liquor down the drain. I finally get to a bottle of white wine my cousin gave me 2 years ago. I don’t know much about wine, I know you can age it. But frankly, it’s been sitting in my kitchen for two years, clearly I’m not going to ever use it. I had grand plans of making sangria, but that never happened. I do actually like sangria, mostly because the wine flavor is hidden.
So, after I was finished dumping liquor I got to the wine. Apparently it’s one of those nice wines that has a cork. I just realized I don’t actually OWN a wine cork. I thought I did, but no. I mean, Andy and I aren’t wine drinkers, so that is why we went 5 years living together without a cork screw. But I thought I at least had a courtesy one for guests? I’m a bad non-hostess! Just to clarify, Andy and I do drink. But we’re beer people. While I do like sangria and mixed drinks, I leave those to the experts at a pub to mix up for me. ANYWAY, I thought maybe using a steak knife would help me open the wine bottle. Not really. All I managed to do was chip away at the cork. I didn’t care, as I wasn’t going to drink it. But I got to the point where the cork was free and plopped directly into the bottle of wine. I splashed wine all over my face and counter! UGH.
After I was done dumping booze and making my kitchen smell like Barney Gumble threw up everywhere, I started clearing out the bedrooms. I dumped a huge contractor bag of stuff. Plus 2 bags of clothes and shoes to donate. I still want to donate more clothes, but I was too tired to finish digging around. This morning I dropped the donations off at a Planet Aid donation box. See guys, I’m helping the planet by de-hoarding! hahaha. It just stinks I still have to look for things to donate in the other rooms. I also have to start packing soon, yikes.
I always said when I get married, I wouldn’t do a veil. I just find them to be an expensive piece of tulle I could hack together myself with a $3.99 trip to a craft store. But I guess it depends on the dress too. A lot of the wedding dresses I tried on and liked, didn’t look good with a veil. But the dress I ended up with, does. So here I am, spending a lot of money on a veil, like I said I would never do.
I guess I can justify the purchase because my dress was a real bargain. Also, it’s being handmade from a small business. So at least I can say I’m supporting a small business. Also, my veil is freaking awesome. The seller sent me pictures this morning, it will be shipped out soon. I can’t wait! It will really fit the wedding theme well. Also, I have an exciting appointment next week, that I’ll talk about later with a famous bling queen. She is going to make a belt for my dress that will outta this world. I just wish these were things I could wear again, just feels like a waste. But I guess that is what weddings are, a money pit. Albeit, a fun one at least.
I’m not a doctor, I just play one on TV. Never mind, I don’t even do that. Anyway, for the past couple of months, I’ve been extremely tired. I switched up my diet, because I definitely wasn’t eating enough healthy foods. I am also on week 4 or 5 of this new exercise program I started. But still, it didn’t help. I’m sure it doesn’t help that I haven’t been able to get as much sleep as I would like. I tried to go to bed earlier, when I could. That didn’t seem to shake me out of the tired-funk.
So now I’m getting a little annoyed at this nonsense. This weekend wasn’t quite as jam-packed as it usually is, so I was able to sleep in Saturday and Sunday. It was a Christmas miracle that I didn’t have to get up early to do some kind of bullshit activity. Let me tell you, it was glorious! It’s Monday and I don’t feel like Zombie Flanders, so I’m a happy camper. I still had time to have fun this weekend, and do some painting at my condo. So I wasn’t a complete waste of sleepy space! I need to do this “sleeping in” thing more often.

Moving time is finally getting close(ish). It looks like I’ll be moving to my newly renovated place within a couple of months. But Andy and I had to do some painting over the weekend. The master bedroom will be a light green, the bathroom will be blue, and spare room pale purple. My house is going to look like the Pastel Goth palette from Kat Von D. Hahah! We should hopefully be able to wrap up the painting this weekend (fingers crossed). But now I have to start to pack things up, which I’m not looking forward to doing. Moving makes me panic because it forces me to come to terms with the fact I have too many things. Granted, I plan to purge as I pack. I’m sure I’ll have things I don’t feel like packing, so straight to the trash or donation bin they go.
I think I’d be less twitchy about the situation if I could start to move things now. But there are still a lot of things being done in the new place, like the floors need to be tiled or refinished, and (of course) the painting. So I can’t really move things until the floors are done. PLUS I need to order some storage cabinets from Ikea, as we need the extra closet space. I’m thinking of ordering soon, and just sticking the boxes in the basement until we’re ready to move them upstairs and assemble. Argh!
Saturday was an interesting night. Andy and I wanted to grab some burgers and booze for dinner. We had plans to see a friends cover band play in the area. We didn’t intend to stay for the whole set. The cover band was playing in the Foundation Room of the House of Blues. Meanwhile, down in the actual concert venue, Rick Astley was having a concert. I guess it was the last night of his tour for a while. We watched him on the TV’s upstairs, and they piped in the concert audio for us.
I give Rick a lot of credit. He played a 45 minute encore! Once his show was done, the cover band started to play. They were good, loads of Step Brothers references thrown in, they won me over just on that alone. About an hour into their set, none other than Rick Astley himself shows up. He asked to play with the band (Mr. Doubtfire) for a bit. This was a huge surprise, and we weren’t being Rick Rolled. I figured he would play a few songs, and be on his way. His tour manager told us they had to leave back to England early in the morning, so he was trying to keep Rick on a tight schedule.
It was quite the spectacle to see Rick Astley basically have a private concert for us. There was probably only about 40 or 50 people at the Foundation Room. I have to give him serious props, he played various cover songs with Mr. Doubtfire for a good hour and a half before calling it quits. So much for trying to leave early! We stayed until almost closing time. Which means there was a huge line for hot dogs when we left, so we couldn’t get any food from Sausage Guy. Bummer! But hey, we got a free private concert from Rick Astley, so I can’t complain.
