GET PLASTERED!

20180125_125504.jpg

Last night I went to a wine and cheese night at The Clayroom with some friends. It was a lot of fun. I painted a dinosaur and shark because I’m not-so secretly a kid at heart. I probably should have painted something else because I finished early. But I couldn’t make up my mind on what else to paint, and I was tired. So there you have it, just a shark and dinosaur. Of course I thought up some design ideas I could incorporate after I left. Oh well, maybe another time!

JUST CALL ME OYSTERS ROCKEFELLER

I had a low-key(ish) weekend. I took Friday off because my husband was having some minor surgery. The surgery went well and he came home on Saturday morning. He didn’t want to stay in the hospital overnight, but the doctor wanted to be sure he was all clear. Unfortunately, he hasn’t been sleeping well because of the discomfort, but he’s getting better each day. Aside from that, I did go out for a nice dinner over the weekend. I have the leftovers in the fridge!

20180122_131837.jpgOn Sunday night, I went to a pop-up oyster party with some friends. It was so fun! The party was Mad Men themed. I managed to pull together an outfit with things I already had.  The parties are always at a “secret” location, apparently. This was my first one. It was sponsored by Bombay Sapphire, so the only drinks served were gin-based.

There was all kinds of flora and fauna in my gin and tonic.

At first I was hesitant about that. But out of 4 different gin drinks, there was only one I didn’t like. I’d say those are great odds. I also decided raw oysters aren’t so bad? Normally I only eat broiled oysters, but for the sake of the party, I tried a few raw ones. Plus I figured if I get a tape worm, that would be a great diet to follow for my upcoming honeymoon. Har har.

The party was at an old candle pin bowling alley. They had popup bars set up on each floor. The first floor had the oyster bar, and the second floor boasted a caviar bar complete with donuts and mini pancakes! There was also a DJ and the lanes were all open for party-goers to use. We played a string. I did bad, but I’m also not great at candle pin in general. Well, I’m also not great at regular 10 pin either, but I can somehow at least land a strike or two. After the party, we grabbed some burgers and made our way home.

REBEL JUST FOR KICKS

20180118_105633

I really wanted these awesome Louboutin boots my co-worker has that were covered in spikes. But alas, couldn’t justify the price tag. So when you cannot buy, you DIY! I got a cheap pair of boots and ton of studs and made my own, sans painting the outsole red. My next project is to stud a entire pair of booties. I’m already on the hunt for a cheap pair I can stud.

OH HEY, 2018!

IMG_5864-COLLAGE

I’ve been super lazy about updating my blog for a couple of months. At first I blamed the holiday season, but now that it’s well past the holidays, we can just blame laziness. I might do a few recaps of what I did over the holidays, but I probably won’t get around to it. Haha! So let’s just start with the weekend. It was a long weekend, which was nice! I went to a car show on Saturday, it was pretty cool to check out all the cars.  There was also an RV part, but we didn’t have tickets for it. Maybe next year we will check it out.

IMG_5885-COLLAGEThat night, we went out for food and drinks to watch the Patriots game. I was supposed to meet up with friends after, but I was too cold and tired to leave my spot at the bar.

On Sunday, Andy and I went to the Mapparium. I finally got to use my new DSLR camera I got fromAndy Claus. Which reminds me, I need to sell my old one on eBay. I was in need of an upgrade. Anyway, while I was allowed to take pictures inside the Mary Baker Eddy library, they do not permit pictures inside the Mapparium. I didn’t realize this! I also didn’t realize it is a library dedicated to the founder of Christian Science movement. While it’s not my religion, it was interesting to find out how it came to be. I just wasn’t expecting this, haha! I guess I should have researched this more. But I was dazzled by the giant glass globe.

The Mapparium is a giant glass globe with a glass bridge across the center you can walk thru. It was built in the 1930’s. Each glass panel was hand-painted and cured in an oven. The acoustics inside are crazy! My voice sounded super loud in the center. Anyone standing on the outside could hear people whispering clearly. Since they don’t allow pictures, I used their selfie wall to get pictures. I was tempted to sneak some inside with my phone, but the guide seemed to be pretty watchful, and I didn’t want to get called out.

After we got back from the Mapparium and lunch in the area, I went to see I, Tonya. I really liked it! I do feel really bad for Nancy Kerrigan. I’m sure she didn’t anticipate for the world to re-live her pain 24 years later. Also, I recall back in 2010  tragedy struck her family. Her brother assaulted her father to the point where he passed away. So sad!

TIS’ THE SEASON…TO BUY A SHIT LOAD OF EYE SHADOW PALETTES….

20171205_150153.jpg

Nomad cosmetics shadow singles, Urban Decay Distortion, Juvia’s Place Douce, and Too Faced Chocolate Gold

I have done most of my Christmas shopping by now. All I have left is my younger nieces and nephews, plus my parents and in-laws. Considering how lengthy my Christmas list is, that is an achievement. In the mix, I bought myself some things as well. I got a bunch of new shoes over Black Friday/Cyber Monday, and donated the old ones. It was time for an upgrade. I guess I’m getting old, because I splurged and got some quality pairs, instead of the ones I usually pick up from Forever 21 or Target. I mean, I’m not going to pass up a cute pair of shoes from either of those stores, but I want to pretend I’m an adult.

Since it’s the holidays, a lot of new eye shadow palettes have been released. I was eyeing the Urban Decay Distortion palette, Too Faced Chocolate Gold, and the Juvia’s Place Douce.  There was some shipping drama with my Urban Decay palette though. Since I’m a Rouge member with Sephora, I got early access to it. So I ordered one for myself. Then I remembered one of my friends wanted one too, so I placed another order for her. Another friend also wanted it too, so I placed a third order.

Unfortunately, Sephora uses Lasership and they tend to not deliver my packages before 10pm, which is problematic. I usually am asleep, or forget to check the porch before bed by the time it gets delivered. One of the orders actually got to me on time. The other got delivered at 10pm and sat on my porch until morning. The last order was “mis-sorted” and ended up someplace in East Who Cares New Jersey. I waited a few days before contacting Sephora. They said the package was lost and issued me a refund. But the eye shadow was sold out, so I couldn’t place another order. GAH!

Thankfully, the shadow was re-released the following day. So I ordered another one, and opted to have it ship USPS. Through some odd stroke of luck, the order that was “lost”, got found. It was delivered on Saturday at 11:30PM. I grabbed later that night from the porch when I got home from the bar. I also did end up getting the 4th order yesterday. So lest Sephora charge me for the one that was refunded, I have returned one of the units. OMG, so much drama! But at least now my friends Christmas gift is in my hands. I have used basically all of these palettes at this point. But I need to get back into doing reviews. I think I’m going to upgrade my DSLR camera over Christmas, so I can take some nice pictures of swatches and things for reviews. Stay tuned!

COMPLIMENTARY HOT WAX?

20171114_100005.jpg

I met Lou Ferrigno, Joonas Suotamo, and Joey Fatone at their booths, and chatted with them for a bit.

I just got back from an intense Comic Con weekend in Rhode Island with Erin. A couple other friends were there as well like Fiona & Emily.  This Con was held in two adjacent buildings, unlike Boston Comic Con which was all within the convention center. Honestly, the arena building was a NIGHTMARE. But it was the area you needed to be in if you booked a photo op with a celeb guest, also some of the celeb guest booths were located there for autographs. The area was poorly laid out, you were forced to go into one direction only, and this was at the main entrance. There was also only ONE set of stairs for up and down along the concourse. It caused a crazy bottleneck!

Unfortunately, that area remained extremely crazy all weekend. I also don’t understand why they wouldn’t allow people to use the tickets they printed at home, to use for their photo ops. I was able to do this at Boston Comic Con. Instead, we were forced to stand in this crazy long line to redeem our photo op tickets on Friday. Thankfully we did it all at once, and managed to not miss our session with Elijah Wood.

Clearly I was not excited AT ALL to meet Christopher Lloyd

Saturday was also extremely busy. But we tried to limit the amount of time we needed to spend in the Circle of Hell area (that’s what we nicknamed the arena part). Thankfully Fiona let us use her hotel passes to get into the Con from the inside entrance, so we didn’t have to stand in the cold all weekend. I think if I go next year, I’ll stay at the hotel and limit the photo ops to Sunday only.

Other than the nightmare photo op area, the convention center was great! I was able to meet some celeb guests at their booths and chat with them. On Saturday, I dressed as a Discoball Deathstar. I had to remake my Deathstar costume from a few years ago. I guess you consider it Deathstar II, except this one looks finished. Haha, there is some nerd humor for you Star Wars fans.

Joey Fatone, Theo Rossi, Samantha Newark (voice of original Jem & the Holograms), and Brian O’Halloran all loved my costume! *swoon* We totally quoted Camp Nowhere to Christopher Lloyd when we met him, we got a laugh out of him. We were probably the only people that would quote Camp Nowhere to him out of that man’s extensive film history. I always replay the carwash scene of that movie, it’s my favorite.

Deathstar Discoball, the dish part lights up! I didn’t have time to make the rest of the skirt light up.

READY RED ONE!

20171031_103058-1.jpg

I was an X-wing for Halloween

Happy Halloween, everyone! It’s my favorite holiday. Since I’ve moved back to where I don’t have to deal with annoying college kids and have wonderful things like ample parking, this means we’ll actually have trick or treaters. Not sure how to deal with it though, as my dog loses his mind every time the doorbell rings. We plan to go out for dinner and drinks tonight, so we could just hold him back when the doorbell rings until we head out for the night. But I don’t know if I want to deal with it. It’s easier just to eat the bags of candy ourselves, haha.

20171031_103209.jpg

Anyway, I went to another Halloween party over the weekend. Fiona always does an A+ job with the decorations, this year was no exception. Andy made me into an X-Wing from Star Wars. I went with Red One so I could dress as R2D2, of course! The party was zombie-themed and my friend Emily did an awesome job with gory makeup. I’m sure her face is probably still stained red though. I had a hard time navigating the asteroid belt (party goers) in my giant costume. So I had to stay put for a couple hours until I took the X-Wing part off. I felt like Jabba the Hutt sitting around taking up 2 chairs in my giant costume. Maybe I could be Jabba next year? haha!
