LET’S REVIEW!

I just noticed I haven’t reviewed anything in a while. Oops! Well we can fix that. I got a bunch of things from Sephora over the last few months. So I’ll talk about a few of them right now, and save some for later. I started using the Farsali “Rose Gold Elixir” and it’s my favorite thing ever right now. The consistency is more of an oil. I generally use it at night and even put a tiny bit on my lips. I don’t actually know if you’re supposed to apply to lips, but I do. Let me tell you, it works miracles! I only use it once a day, so hopefully I won’t die if I continue to use it on my lips. It also does wonders for my skin. My skin feels plump, smooth, and moisturized in the morning. Bonus, there are tiny 24k gold flecks in the oil and you can use it as a makeup primer. Makes me feel so glam! Which reminds me, I need to review the Peter Thomas Roth “24K Gold Pure Luxury Lift & Firm Prism Cream” at some point. I’ve been using that in the morning on top of my moisturizer. I think my goal in life is to look as youthful as C3PO? haha!

Next up is the Belif “Peat Miracle Revital Eye Cream.” I always confuse Belief with Philosophy, they have similar packaging. I’ve only used this cream a few times, so I can’t say how well it works long-term. I’m waiting to use up my current eye cream before switching. But the consistency isn’t very creamy at all. It’s almost like a gel. So it’s not watery-looking, but a bit heavy. I don’t mind the texture, I actually don’t need a lot so I feel like it will help people use less product. It’s also a bit pricey, so it’s good that you don’t need to use a lot. I did find it moisturizes really well. I only have some fine lines and wrinkles, which are mostly caused from squinting a lot. Oops! I didn’t notice if it helped or not, but I generally only notice the lines when I apply powder makeup, or use a heavy concealer. So I think the heavy consistency will help makeup not settle into lines around my eyes.

I just got the Ciate “Dewy Stix.” I have an addiction to highlighters, so I had to try this. It’s not glittery like a typical highlighter, it’s more of a subtle shimmer. It is supposed to make your skin more dewy. It does that pretty well. It’s good for times when you want a subtle glow, and not look like a show pony. You can also use it to enhance your highlighter. The product can be used under any powder highlighter, which is cool. I haven’t tested this part yet, but I’ll try to report back when I do.

2 TICKETS TO PARADISE

wp-1466172571438.jpg

I forgot to post about my awesome hair, haha. I went to the salon over the weekend to get my hair done. I had her touch up the purple and add a layer of blue. There isn’t much contrast between the two colors, but I dig it. I don’t think the blue will last as long as the purple, but no matter. It seriously looks like I’m trying to make bath tub wine when I wash my hair. The dye gets everywhere. I can’t even have my nails painted a light color because the dye will turn my nails purple. It’s kind of unnerving, but beauty is sacrifice!

Anyway, I finally booked my flights for our vacation in September.Apparently Andy thought I booked them weeks ago, oops!  We’re going on  a really awesome desert adventure, plus a wedding. We have a laundry list of things to check out like, the Grand Canyon, Sedona, ghost towns, hot air balloon, observatory, and a trip to that abandoned plane field as featured in Can’t Buy Me Love! We will be renting a car and cruising around America’s South West. In addition to flights, I also booked some hotels for my other summer adventures. I can’t wait to go to the beach and hang with friends this summer!

REVIEW: Valentia Skin Detoxifying Clay Mask #Brandbacker #Valentiabeauty

20160502_093207

I was selected by Brandbacker and Valentia to try the new Skin Detoxifying Clay Mask. I was very excited to be selected to test out this new product. I love using masks, so I jumped at the opp to use this one. It’s very easy to use, I washed then dried my face, and applied the mask. The clay has a bit of a scent to it, but it faded quickly when it was applied. I like that this mask has scrubbing beads built in, so you can exfoliate while you are rinsing the mask off. I left it on for about 20 minutes, rinsed/exfoliated. My skin tone looked much more even, after one use. I can’t wait to continue to use this mask!
Ingredients:
Skin Detoxifying Clay Mask – Natural and Organic Ingredients – With Kaolin Clay, Hisbiscus & Cranberry Fibers

Specially selected ingredients work together to achieve optimum results.

– Kaolin Clay:Clay minerals draw impurities, improve skin tone, and tighten pores for smoother firmer skin.

– Plant Stem Cells:Naturally decreases the level of pro-aging toxins and works to soother the skin, reduce redness, and improve evenness.

– Spirulina: A botanical stimulant full of vitamins that hydrates the skins surface and contributes to tissue regeneration of the skin.

– CoQ10: Lessens the appearance of wrinkles by reducing free radical damage and stimulating health collagen production.

– Hibiscus & Cranberry Fibers: Both lend their anti-aging properties to firm and reinforce the skin, helping to reduce the creation of new wrinkles.

About the Brand:

REVIEW: WHEN MASK PACKS @whenmaskpacks #whenmaskpacks #BrandBacker

image

I was selected by Brandbacker to try When Mask Packs. I am reviewing The Last Choice mask. I’ve used a few different brands of sheet masks before. Sometimes they can be a bit tricky, especially the ones made with super thin materials. The others tend to tear, or fold in, making it difficult to un-wrinkle and apply. I was pleasantly surprised with this mask, as it was made from a nice feeling material. It was super easy to put on, and didn’t feel like the serum was going to drip off onto my shirt. These masks are made from a bio-cellulose sheet, made from coconuts.

I guess coconut sheets tend to hold moisture in more. I left the mask on for about 30 minutes before bed. I washed and dried my skin prior to applying the mask. So once I took it off, I rubbed some of the excess serum into my face, then went to bed. My skin felt really soft and moisturized afterwards. I also noticed, it did make my skin texture less red.  I definitely prefer the When masks over the other sheet masks I’ve used, it was much easier to apply, and didn’t drip! I was very satisfied with this product.

About the Product:

When mask packs are available in 5 varieties:

• Travelmate [Use when you travel]
• 10PM [Use to replenish skin]
• Snow Magic* [Use to brighten skin] (*I tested this one!)
• Glamour Base [Use to prepare skin for make up]
• The Last Choice [Use to hydrate] (* I tested this one)

Product Highlights:

When uses an all-natural bio-cellulose sheet that is made from coconuts, which is gentle enough to treat burn patients. Despite its light weight, the bio-cellulose sheet can hold essence 100 times its weight, that is 10 times more than fabric or paper mask sheets. As much essence as it holds, the bio-cellulose sheet delivers essence to skin with minimum wastage by maintaining exceptional dermal contact.
When masks are available at the following retailers:

FRIDAY FUN AND MY FAVORITE FACE CLEANSERS

Capture

It’s finally Friday, praise Jebus! I decided to share my favorite makeup removers/cleansers. I checked out micellar water, after hearing so much about it. So what IS micellar water? It’s made up of micelles (tiny balls of cleansing oil molecules) suspended in soft water. These balls help to draw dirt and makeup from your skin, somehow. It’s like science or whatever. I was (of course) skeptical, Thinking it wouldn’t really work that well.

But alas, I went to Target, and picked some up. Many different brands offer micellar water, so you should have no problem finding some to try. I’ve even seen it at Ulta as well, in a huge container. I opted for a regular-sized container, thinking I would just use it as an eye makeup remover. I was pleasantly surprised at the results. The water actually removed my eye makeup and regular make up better than a liquid makeup remover. That was pretty amazing to me! It also left my skin feeling soft. This cleansing water is perfect for people with sensitive skin as well, since it’s just water. I also liked it for my oily skin.

t

Now onto my favorite facial cleansing wipes. I’ve only used drugstore brand face wipes, and one from Josie Maran. None of these compare to Skyn Iceland Glacial Cleansing Cloths! I know they are fudging expensive compared to drugstore brands, but they are worth every last penny to me. I only need one wipe to get all my makeup off. These wipes always feel very moist and foamy, unlike other wipes that tend to feel dry. I can’t say enough about these. But to save them, I rotate between micellar water and these wipes to remove makeup. Both work great and I refuse to give up one or the other, just to continuously use one product.

Anyway, I’m so happy it’s Friday. I’m going bowling tonight and will be eating a mac & cheese hamburger. I also have plans to check out a Korean restaurant where we’ll be grilling our own food at the table. I seem to like places where I cook my own food, Andy thinks it’s weird. I don’t blame him, it is kinda odd to pay money to cook my own food at a restaurant. But it can be a fun experience!

PSA: DON’T ORDER FROM TRYITNOW.COM #ItCosmetics

SCAM

I usually don’t fall for infomercial crap. But I’ve been interested in trying It Cosmetics for a while. My friend loves their concealer she gets from QVC for her Rosacea. I also know what their price point is. So when I saw the infomercial, I thought it was a good deal. Normally I do research when I buy things, and never (ever!!) buy things from an infomercial. Not saying ALL infomercials are scams, but most probably are. Unfortunately, tryitnow site is no exception.

If you are going to order It Cosmetics products, don’t get it from tryitnow.com. The full-size kit deal is definitely too good to be true. Suggest ordering product from Ulta or QVC. I got scammed into purchasing, a few weeks back. While I got the products as promised, it was not made completely clear the kit would end up costing $150, they are sneaky and charge installments of $50 each. Then you get shipped a new kit, and have to pay installments on that as well. I got scammed out of money when I went to cancel after my first kit. The website doesn’t make it elicit that you are basically paying $150 per shipment. Also, the 60-Day Money Back Guarantee doesn’t say you’ll get ALL your money back. They only offered me 20% off the kit price, plus would need to pay shipping. Not cool! Don’t get fooled like me, be smart. Worth noting, I was able to talk the customer service rep down on the balance for the kit installment (after some finesse). So at least I didn’t actually pay $150, but still paid more than the $50 the site lists.

If you want my unbiased opinion on the products themselves, I’d say save your money. While the products are okay, I would say there are definitely much better beauty products out there for a lower price that do a better job.

Anyway, I’m posting this on as many social media sites as I can, including the FB page for It Cosmetics, hoping to give people fair warning. If you want to share my blog post, please do! I’ll list all their social media sites below. The more awareness the better. Remember, if it’s too good to be true, it probably is!

BEAUTY IS PAIN, I GUESS

Capture

I seem to be spending more time/money at Sephora these days. I guess since I stopped being an Avon rep, I have to fill the beauty product void somehow. I’ve always been interested in trying new beauty products anyway. This one isn’t really new to me, per-se. I bought the Boscia Luminizing Black Mask from Sephora years ago, when they first started carrying it. I used it several times, but I think I ended up tossing it when I moved. I don’t recall having any issues with it the first time I bought it.

venom-transform

This mask made me feel like Venom from Spiderman

This time, I found it really painful to remove. I remember it being a slight pain to remove last time, but not to this extent. I’m going to blame my application and the face wash I used. I used my Clean & Clear Essentials Foaming Facial Cleanser, which can be a bit drying. That coupled with the wrong application, could have lead to the removal being difficult. You are supposed to use a thick/opaque layer. I thought I did enough, but I don’t think the layer was suitable. Also, I will be sure not to get it close to my hair line either. It ended up pulling some hair from the side of face off, haha! Given these application issues, I will definitely be trying it again.

Despite that, I did notice my skin looking a bit more even toned. The product itself is easy to squeeze out of the tube. It has a thick but smooth consistency, it feels kind of cool actually! It did remind me of Venom from Spiderman, haha! I think with prolonged use, my skin will look more luminous. I’m definitely going to give it another try. If I still don’t like it, I’ll return it. But I’m sure it will be fine, as I didn’t have issues the first time I used it years back.
