Over the weekend, we celebrated Andy’s birthday. We went to Abe & Louie’s, and had a great steak dinner. We went with Ginny, Derek, and Brian. We ordered a TON of sides, and they were all delicious. We had some calamari, lobster mac and cheese, mushrooms, creamed spinach, and their bread rolls. I opted to get the Delmonico cut steak with cheddar cheese add on. It was delicious! I usually get filet, but I wanted to branch out. I ate too much, and blew up like Violet Beauregarde. Thankfully, Ginny is a hero and carries pepto in her purse, it really made me feel better.

After dinner, we went to Bond for drinks. It was surprisingly quiet there. Last time we went was right after my friends wedding, and the place was hoppin’. We saw a lot of hookers at the bar. There were none around this time, bummer! It’s always good people-watching.

Or an adult, who acts like a kid!

I celebrated my birthday a couple weeks early. It was mostly because I wanted to go to this hidden arcade, and wanted to slip in before the college kid apocalypse ensues. Nothing in the Boston-area can be enjoyed between  September-Mid December, and Mid January- end of May. It was still crowded at the arcade when we arrived, but it did thin out after a while. I enjoyed a two-person drink to myself, out a giant plastic R2D2 cookie jar. I think the bartender suspected I was the only one that was drinking from this thing, so I don’t think she put a lot of booze in my bucket. It was not fun to carry R2 around all night, but I made it work.

Some of the games were very confusing. I played an Aerosmith game where we had to shoot robots? You can also shoot CD’s at the enemy as well. It took us a good 15 minutes to beat the helicopter launching bad music at us (not Aerosmith, I love them!), but we prevailed. Frankly, I think Aerosmith should stick with pinball machines. This shooting game was best suited for AC/DC, in my opinion. They could have called it “Shoot to Thrill.” Then you could throw TNT at weird yellow robots. Any takers, Konami?

Once we ran out of tokens, we made our way to one of my favorite bars in the area. I got to find out “Mayflower” beat Ewan McGregor in the boxing match. I don’t know a damn thing about boxing, but I KNEW Mayweather would win. Why was that even debatable?! Overall, a very successful early birthday.

Sorry, I haven’t been blogging as much lately. I doubt anyone has noticed, so no harm there! Last weekend I celebrated my birthday. I was all “bah humbug”about it at first (because I don’t want to get old!), but we all had a very good time. I used the downstairs area of this new place called Article 24. I like the atmosphere there, and they have PARKING. Which is a rarity around here.

I went a little early and had dinner with friends. Once we were done eating, we took over the bar area. My friends began to shuffle in, and we had just enough seats at the bar for everyone. It got a little loud when two large parties sat down to eat, but they didn’t stay too long. We enjoyed some drinks, including ones that are set on fire. We ended the night at The Drop, which surprisingly wasn’t that crowded.

On Sunday, I didn’t go to the fashion swap because Andy and I went to the last day of the Brimfield Flea Market. We had a lot of fun spending the day looking around. We also got really amazing donuts, and hot dogs. I saw loads of interesting things for sale, but I was good and only bought a few things. I grabbed a couple of spin drums for myself and Erin. We are going to see if Ralph Macchio will sign them for us. haha!

My birthday is next week. I’m celebrating it this weekend, but I’m not really looking forward to it. I didn’t have a birthday outing last year, instead I went to my favorite brewery in Maine, and the beach with Andy.

I thought it would be a good idea to  throw something together this year. I figured I would look forward to it, as I didn’t do anything last year. But my feelings are “meh”. The sad thing, I’m actually looking forward to my birthday next year, because I already have a theme in mind. I will be 33, my Larry Bird year. Therefore I’m making the theme Larry Bird. I’m paying no mind to the fact my wedding will be less than two weeks after my 33rd birthday, I’m celebrating it anyway. People will be sick of me by the end of September, but let’s worry about that next year. I have to get through my Bah Humbug year first, haha!

My birthday was over the weekend! I was too lazy to plan an outing, I was thinking of doing 90’s night, but that would rely on people showing up on time on a Friday night. Cuz’ if you don’t show up on time, they make a fake line for you to stand in. Personally, I don’t get the fake line thing. There are literally hundreds of places people can go drink, and bet your ass I’m not gonna waste time in a line. Not even for you, 90’s night! So I didn’t feel like dealing with fake lines or college kids. I knew there would be loads of jerk college kids with fake ID’s ruining my good time. It’s like, DO YOU EVEN KNOW ANY 90’s SONGS THAT AREN’T FROM THE BAHA MEN?! Okay, technically that is 2000, but whatever! ANYWAY, I’m getting carried away here and I have loads to photo collages to share.

So we planned a lovely weekend in Maine. We headed up on Friday, poor Andy had a really bad day so he was happy to get the heck out of the house for the weekend. On Friday night, we went out for dinner and drinks at one of the few places that was open after Labor Day that also serves booze. As mentioned in my previous post, we heard really cool music from Rob Benton.

The next day, we went to my favorite brewery in Portland. Shipyard Pumpkinhead is my favorite beer, that’s why I’m always excited for pumpkin season. They let you try their beers in the tasting room, and I definitely took advantage. The tasting is FREE. But since I’m a sucker, I bought a cool hoodie of my favorite beer. I have no shame! After the brewery, we explored Portland. I also bought a lobster mood ring because, MAINE!

I also had my first potato donut from The Holy Donut. I opted for the bacon maple donut, because apparently I wanted the most hipster donut ever created. I gotta say, it was really good! They also happen to be playing the theme song to Portlandia in the shop. I thought that was funny, even though it’s the wrong Portland. I guess  Portland, Maine would be the original since it’s much older. Seniority, yo!

2015-09-14 19.47.09

We wandered around the city for a bit and found a cool gate people covered in locks, like the one that was in Paris. Overall, I had a really good time in Portland. It was surprisingly crowded though!

2015-09-14 19.48.36

We also went to Old Orchard Beach! Andy had never been, and I haven’t gone in over 10 years. At least this time I was old enough to go beyond the yellow tape section on the pier (where all the bars are). Three cheers to being old!

I guess a trip to Maine wouldn’t be complete until I go to the zoo. This time I spent most of my time with the goats and deer. I mean, I’ve been to that zoo a bunch of times, so it was nice just to chill out and feed the animals. Andy and I want a baby goat though, so this could be dangerous!

2015-09-14 19.52.55

I also want a baby pig, so I think I should just turn the backyard into a farm. We can train Zorro to herd instead of be a jerk to animals. Although, I think if a goat headbutted him, he’d gladly leave my farm animals alone. Especially if we opted for the white tiger expansion pack!

I went out for a friend’s birthday last night and it was fun. We started things off at McGreevey’s and had some drinks. After we did some bowling and 4 person air hockey at King’s. Let me tell you, four person air hockey is intense!

The food is pretty good at King’s. I got a salad and some tater tots. The tots look more like mini mozzarella sticks, but they were good! We waited a couple hours for a bowling lane to open, and ended up in the King Pin room. I shockingly did really good and got 3 strikes in one game. I’m pretty sure that has never happened to me in non  videogame bowling. I also tormented Andy all night by slipping Sum 41 lyrics into casual conversation. We actually both like Sum 41, but he was getting really annoyed with my antics. But I told him I’ll never fall in line and become another victim of your conformity,
and back down!

My 30th birthday party was a lot of fun. I will go out on a limb and say it’s the funnest birthday I’ve had, evidence is the fact I almost lost my voice. This phenomenon used to happen all the time during high school dances, so I assume my voice gets lost as the fun goes up. Anyway, I got a Samsung smart watch from Andy and he just “loves” the fact I keep calling his phone with it and asking him “hello, is it me you’re looking for?”. It’s really cool! I can make/answer calls, view/answer text messages and emails! I also programmed it to work with my TV. I feel like Penny from Inspector Gadget. This sorta makes up for never getting a computer book for my birthday as a kid. Though, I guess I could find a book cover case for my iPad and call it a computer book! pennyWe started the day by heading to vet to meet a kitty that is available for adoption. We brought Zorro and he was a complete jerk to the cats, so it looks like we will be a cat-free household. Oh well, I had a feeling he would be too hyper for a cat anyway. After we got back, we went to IHOP for birthday pancakes. I opted for strawberry/banana pancakes with a side of hash browns. We also sat next to the worlds most annoying couple. I assumed they were annoying because I was hungry, but once they left Andy immediately said as much. Glad it wasn’t just me!

1) Selfie time in front of the plank walls 2) Attempting to pose 80’s style 3) I was pretending to be a ballerina (stole this from Ginny) 4) Erin saving me from pretending to be a ballerina (stolen from Ginny) 5) More cheesy 80’s poses

I had to start getting ready for my party early to ensure we could get a decent spot at the bar where we could have our own section. The waitstaff at The Avenue was amazing and offered us their room downstairs that had a bunch of tables and a couple of dart boards. It was perfect! Since Erin and I got there early, we got our photo-ops in. She managed to get a giant can of Aqua Net and we spritzed our hair to hold up for the night. Erin attempted to feather her hair but it wouldn’t stay. I braided mine and the crimp didn’t hold as much as I would have liked, but I’m sure the Aqua Net helped hold it. I also brought a pack of 100 glow stick bracelets as party favors. The waitstaff also wanted in on the glow stick action, so we happily obliged.

1) I feel so neon! 2) Erin and I decked out in glow gear 3) Aqua Net selfie! 4) Fi came as a rapper, it was amazing! 5) Jamie rocked an Aerosmith tee and crimped hair

Unfortunately, college foozball is thing north of the Mason-Dixon too, so they had to broadcast the stupid BC game on the speakers and TV’s. We didn’t have much time for 80’s music during the game. Thankfully once it ended, we were able to continue hi-jacking the juke box to play strictly 80’s music.  The bar should really consider having an 80’s night each week, a lot of people upstairs loved the music selection. I think we did a great job with hi-jacking, only a couple of non-80’s songs got played. Sorry folks that don’t like 80’s music, go watch your college foozball elsewhere! We (of course) danced our faces off in front of the dart boards…don’t worry no games were happening at the time!

I think LA should be voted “best hair”, it was awesome!!!

The night wouldn’t be complete without Ginny and I doing our signature dance to Come on Eileen by Dexy’s Midnight Runners. The dance basically involves a lot of synchronized leaping from side to side for 4 minutes. I have no idea how we managed to do this easily when we were 15…which was 15 years ago. [[cries]] I think Ginny and I should open a gym called Dexy’s Midnight Jumpers and just dance to Come on Eileen. Our members would have no problem staying in shape, I mean that’s how we stayed in shape in high school. We didn’t need to track team for that shiz!

I almost forgot to mention I had cake with my family today and my mom got me a pretty orchid and there were balloons! My dog (of course) keeps trying to yank the ribbons so he can play with them. I told him “NO!” as I don’t want him pooping mylar later.

I got new sunglasses and an orchid
