Hello Wednesday! I am currently blogging while Andy is driving us to Brookline for dinner. I am also going to pick up my dinosaur and shark from last week’s paint night! Anyway, over the weekend I got ambitious and made a potato bacon torte for my friend Ginny’s potato party.
At first I was going to be lazy and just bring some chips and vodka. But my coworker offered up her tasty recipe. So I trudged to the grocery store on Friday night, and began making the torte on Saturday afternoon. I’m glad it turned out good, I was worried. THERE WAS SO MUCH FOOD! I didn’t have a chance to try everything. I made the huge mistake of eating dinner beforehand, I wasn’t mentally prepared for the sheer quantity of food. After the party we went to Harry’s where I drank White Russians and relaxed with friends.

It’s my birthday, and I’m officially 33. I call it my Larry Bird year, since I’m from Boston and all. It’s also 10 days until my wedding, yikes! I’m trying to stay calm, but that is easier said than done. Today I’m going out to lunch and having a nice steak from Ruth Chris for dinner. I can’t wait, sign me up for ice cream and steak.
I forgot to post that my co-workers surprised me last week with a little bridal shower. It was very nice of them! I loved the cake, of course. haha! On Saturday, my family arranged a spa day followed by lunch, since they couldn’t make it to my bachelorette party. It was very kind of them, and I’m grateful! One of my sisters picked up some Star Wars masks and the shirt I’m wearing. I’m going to use the masks for my photo booth at the wedding. I already had some from Amazon, but doesn’t hurt to have more!
Or an adult, who acts like a kid!
I celebrated my birthday a couple weeks early. It was mostly because I wanted to go to this hidden arcade, and wanted to slip in before the college kid apocalypse ensues. Nothing in the Boston-area can be enjoyed between September-Mid December, and Mid January- end of May. It was still crowded at the arcade when we arrived, but it did thin out after a while. I enjoyed a two-person drink to myself, out a giant plastic R2D2 cookie jar. I think the bartender suspected I was the only one that was drinking from this thing, so I don’t think she put a lot of booze in my bucket. It was not fun to carry R2 around all night, but I made it work.
Some of the games were very confusing. I played an Aerosmith game where we had to shoot robots? You can also shoot CD’s at the enemy as well. It took us a good 15 minutes to beat the helicopter launching bad music at us (not Aerosmith, I love them!), but we prevailed. Frankly, I think Aerosmith should stick with pinball machines. This shooting game was best suited for AC/DC, in my opinion. They could have called it “Shoot to Thrill.” Then you could throw TNT at weird yellow robots. Any takers, Konami?
Once we ran out of tokens, we made our way to one of my favorite bars in the area. I got to find out “Mayflower” beat Ewan McGregor in the boxing match. I don’t know a damn thing about boxing, but I KNEW Mayweather would win. Why was that even debatable?! Overall, a very successful early birthday.
We encountered a real bear on Saturday morning, as he ran into the woods!
This post is about my awesome bachelorette party weekend. There were tons of penis decorations, which I was fine with. I just didn’t want a REAL stripper, and thankfully there wasn’t one! The house we rented in the White Mountains of New Hampshire was awesome! It has 5 bedrooms and fire pit area outside. We did a lot of fun things. One of my favorites was decorating our sashes for a night in the town.
We spent the first day by the pool and did some light shopping. After I got back, my friends decorated the house and it looked awesome! We stayed by the fire that night, and we named our inflatable man Bernie. Thus began weekend at Bernie’s!
On Saturday, we were supposed to go do the ropes course and zip-lining. But a lot of us were feeling a bit under the weather, so we decorated our sashes and decided to the sky gondola ride at the ski resort. The ride involved getting into these pods that brought us up the mountain. Once we got to the top, there were a bunch of things to check out. Apparently there was a wedding happening at the ampitheater area, which looked seriously awesome! The only draw back to getting married up there, is your guests would need to take a 15 minute gondola ride up each way. My relatives would freak out. Anyway, the only thing I didn’t like was the caves. They looked more like rock formations, not caves. Also, too many freaking stairs. No thanks!
That night, we went out to dinner and annoyed the guests at a local Mexican restaurant. We got all decked out in our bachelorette swag and hit the mountain town. We brought Bernie along to the restaurant. He was a hoot! A kid at a neighboring table was fascinated with Bern-Man, they were the same height. When we told his parents his name is Bernie, they definitely picked up on the movie reference. SCORE!
After scaring away all the patrons at the restaurant, we went to a brewery/inn/bar. It was a happening place with an 80s cover band and good brews. I made some friends, and I may need a restraining order from this woman that was fine at first, but then wouldn’t leave me alone. But that’s a tale for another time. It was such a great weekend, and I love my friends for making this the best weekend ever. Now I’m aboard the struggle bus from being tired.

This will be me during the weekend
I am very excited/scared for my bachelorette party this weekend. We rented a big house in New Hampshire. We’re going to be doing some zip-lining and ropes course at a local ski area. It should be fun! I have never done any of these activities, so it should be interesting to say the least. I have no idea what else we are doing, but I’m sure it will be fun!
I’m going to make a video of the weekend to the Jersey Shore theme song. Gonna G-T-L ALL WEEKEND LONG! Actually, I won’t be. Nobody wants to go to the gym, go tanning, or do laundry during their bachelorette weekend. If those were my only options I’d go with laundry only. GOD I KNOW, I AM SO LAME.
I’ll have to remember to bring along my talking Pauly D Jersey Shore pen I bought at 2:30am at a 7/11 in Boston. This was several years back when the show was still on. I hope my pen still works! I made it a point to move with it, as I like to regale Andy with “CABS ARE HEAH!!” and the beloved, “T-SHIRT TIMEEEEE!”
Lord knows why that poor guys wants to marry me.
I rung in the new year with a light up skirt
New Years Eve has come and gone. This year we went to the Green Briar. It wasn’t super crowded, which was great! I also rocked a light up skirt, it was a big hit. Some people stopped me to take pictures of the light up marvel too. Haha!
We had a good group going. We snagged a couple of corner tables, so we could have space to put our jackets. This was key, since there wasn’t a coat check. I also hoarded some new years swag in my coat, that I (of course) forgot about. Oh well, I’ll save it for next year.
I’m not really doing resolutions. But I’ve completed some 30 Day Fitness Challenges before, on an app. So I’m going to pick a new one each month to do. That should keep me busy for a while. I know it will be impossible to do the challenge every single day in 2017, but I’m going to do as much as I can. I like the app because it reminds you to use it everyday. Handy!

It’s been a crazy month filled with holiday parties and such. So blogging has taken a back seat. Last night I went to a customer appreciation party at our local watering hole. It was filled with free drinks, billiards, and a Santa Pikachu!
This week my work moved offices. I love the new office! I mean, it has little to do with the fact my commute is 10 minutes instead of 35! I didn’t realize I’d been driving there almost seven years, until I did the math. Yeah, math isn’t my strong suit. More on the new office later, gotta save up some blog content for another day.
I haven’t been in the office any Friday this month. It’s pretty sweet. I also took the last week of the month off, so score!
