READY FOR FALL!

BeFunky Collage

I don’t care that it is still technically summer until the 22nd. I am ready for fall! I did a big haul of online shopping last week and hit up the mall on Monday. It’s time to get that fall wardrobe ready. I ordered a lot of Halloween-ish stuff, like the skirt and shirt in the picture. But I can’t resist glow in the dark shirts or dresses! I even got some new shoes, including a pair with bats. I don’t care that it’s really only socially acceptable to wear the Halloween clothes in October. I plan to stretch that rule, so I can get my moneys worth. I did pick up some non-Halloween clothes and shoes as well. Don’t worry, mom!

It’s too bad it doesn’t feel like fall yet. But at the same time, I don’t mind the warm weather, I hope it’s not cold on my wedding day! I plan to have an outdoor ceremony. But my venue does have an indoor space to use, if the weather isn’t cooperative. Speaking of, we’re getting close here folks! A little over two weeks away and I’m quietly freaking out. I just hope I don’t feel overwhelmed on the big day and freeze up.

THE WHOLE TIME!

wp-1482878066013.jpg

Ignore the vintage trading cards, I’m recycling this picture from my Christmas post.

So I brought my awesome new wedding shoes into work, some people wanted to see them in person. I wore them around, and one of the footwear engineers zeroed in a fit problem I was having. I would expect no less,  I work for a footwear company (after all). I got the shoes in a 9, as they don’t offer 1/2 sizes. Which always aggravates me, when shoes are only offered in whole sizes.

ANYWAY, he offered to cut some foam for me to make my shoes fit better. While we were at it, he measured my foot for me. Turns out I’m not an 8 1/2 like I always thought. My correct shoe size is an 8 narrow. Oops! So needless to say, that is why my awesome new shoes are far too large. The foam helps a lot though, so I will be utilizing it. Otherwise I’ll have one of my bridesmaids carry around a safety net to catch me when I fall.

In related news, I booked my first dress appointment. I only asked four people, as I didn’t feel like arriving with a giant posse. It’s a conundrum. I don’t want to leave anyone out, but I also don’t want to bring 50 people. I assume I’ll be checking out multiple dress shops. So I’ll probably ask friends/family that didn’t join me the first time, to go along to my next appointment. Wish me luck! I need to clean up my Pinterest board, so I have a better idea of what I want to try.

YOU CAN KEEP YOUR “DEALS”

I don’t do Black Friday shopping. I used to do it, but waking up extremely early on a day off is criminal. To me, it’s not worth the hassle. Aside from shopping, it’s basically a day filled with things I despise. Lack of parking, tons of people, long lines, and tons of people. PASSARONI SALAD ON THAT! That’s why Cyber Monday is where it is at. This introvert can truly appreciate the lack of human interaction Cyber Monday entails!

I actually finished my Christmas shopping already. Andy just has to pick up something for his parents, and I have to order the gift for Andy. But aside from that, no more shopping! It’s quite freeing to be done with online gift shopping.

I always have a mini panic attack as the holiday season approaches, mostly because I have a ton of people to shop for. There is a lot of thinking involved, but it’s done. Now the not fun part of having to wrap gifts is coming up. I usually wait until a few days before Christmas to do that.

HELLO, BLOG!

wp-1474043477817.jpg

Sorry, I haven’t been blogging as much lately. I doubt anyone has noticed, so no harm there! Last weekend I celebrated my birthday. I was all “bah humbug”about it at first (because I don’t want to get old!), but we all had a very good time. I used the downstairs area of this new place called Article 24. I like the atmosphere there, and they have PARKING. Which is a rarity around here.

I went a little early and had dinner with friends. Once we were done eating, we took over the bar area. My friends began to shuffle in, and we had just enough seats at the bar for everyone. It got a little loud when two large parties sat down to eat, but they didn’t stay too long. We enjoyed some drinks, including ones that are set on fire. We ended the night at The Drop, which surprisingly wasn’t that crowded.

On Sunday, I didn’t go to the fashion swap because Andy and I went to the last day of the Brimfield Flea Market. We had a lot of fun spending the day looking around. We also got really amazing donuts, and hot dogs. I saw loads of interesting things for sale, but I was good and only bought a few things. I grabbed a couple of spin drums for myself and Erin. We are going to see if Ralph Macchio will sign them for us. haha!

GAMBLING WOULD HAVE BEEN CHEAPER

wp-1461712780027.jpg

Erin and I took (what is becoming) an annual trip to Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun casinos. On the way to Foxwoods, we went to Mystic. We both bought these really cute Helly Hansen anchor print raincoats. Now I’ll look forward to the rain, so I can wear my awesome new raincoat. I love the shops in Mystic, especially all the jewelry I can’t afford. But thankfully, we could afford some really good pizza. We went to Mystic Pizza again. At least this time, I finally watched the movie.

After pizza, we spent some time at Mohegan Sun. I bought some stuff from Lush, because I’m addicted to that store. I’m going back there in a few weeks for Andy’s birthday. Hopefully I can stay out of Lush, but I doubt it. Haha! After that, we went to Foxwoods so we could check out the new outlet mall they added. It is actually a pretty large outlet mall, with tons of good stores. I may have purchased some more Coach bags…OOPS! I think it would have been cheaper to have a gambling addiction, as opposed to outlet shopping. Oh well, maybe someday I will learn my lesson.

It was finally time to check into our hotel by the time we left Foxwoods, intending to finish the outlets later. So we loaded up on some snacks and waters, and checked into the hotel. The hotel itself was fine, but we had a lot of issues with the shuttle service to the casino. We got the shuttle on time, but they held it for a party of 37 females, each wearing excessive amounts of various perfumes. The shuttle smelled like someone dropped a nuclear bomb inside a Perfumania. Since we weren’t already irritated over having to hold the shuttle for these ladies, one of them forgot their ID. So the shuttle had to turn around.

Thankfully we weren’t that far, BUT STILL. We had to crack a window, so I wouldn’t be the first person to get high on perfume. Once we finally arrived at the casino, the ladies realized the shuttle drop off location is at the opposite end of the casino, from their dinner res. One of the girls said they should have taken an Uber. I said, “YES, YOU SHOULD HAVE!” Since we arrived later than intended, the wait for a table at Hard Rock was an hour. We put our names in, and decided to finish checking out the outlets, we ran out of steam in the afternoon and didn’t finish the rest of the shops.  Once our table was ready, we ordered some delicious drinks and food. We enjoyed the rest of our evening. Minus the shuttle driver arriving 40 minutes late picking people up. Don’t worry, we complained about that, and the rude girl at the front desk. Thankfully the GM of the hotel was very pleasant to deal with, when we called to complain about the situation.

We decided to sleep in the next day, our feet were killing us from all the walking. But we did manage to get ourselves some PANCAKES. All is good with the world!

INSANE PERSON ACHIEVEMENT, UNLOCKED!

20160412_133159

I probably crossed the threshold into an insane-person in regard to beauty products long ago. But I really went above and beyond today. I had been eyeing this limited-edition eyeshadow palette from Too Faced. But apparently it sold out very quickly online and no news on when/if it would be restocked. At first I wasn’t even going to bother with this palette, but I seem to collect these special Too Faced shadows. Plus I’m a sucker for peachy eye shadow. Eventually my resistance faded, and I began to try to find one on my own.

Leave it to me to decide to finally be on-board with something, after it’s already sold out everywhere. But I noticed on the Sephora site they were going to carry it in stores at the end of the week. I decided to try and see if some stores happen to get it in early. As luck would have it, the store I called near my work had ONE LEFT in stock. The man who helped me on the phone was kindly enough to set it aside for me. It happened to be near my lunch break, so I grabbed my coat and umbrella and made my way to the mall.

It’s not a mall I’m familiar with AT ALL. I’ve only been there maybe 3 times or so. I honestly had no idea where the Sephora was, and their directory didn’t even list it. WTF?! So I Googled the site for the mall and eventually found it, after power-walking the mall. Apparently I picked the parking area farthest away from the store, UGH. But no matter, I got in line and realized I left my 15% off coupon AT HOME. Thankfully since I’m a Rouge member, they hooked me up with the discount anyway. WOOHOO! Afterwards, I made my way back to work with 15 minutes to spare of my lunch break. Despite not knowing where the store was, I’m still a very speedy walker. So I made good time getting back. I can’t wait to use these shadows, they are very prettyful.

SLEEPINESS, SANGRIA AT SUNSET, SUSHI, & SISTERS!

2016-01-19 11.43.15

Snaps over the weekend. Sushi at Bonchon, and drinks at Sunset Grill

I had a really nice long weekend and thought you may enjoy some alliteration.  I really threw off my sleeping cycle by staying up late, and sleeping in. So it was a very rude awakening when my alarm went off this morning. I rolled out of bed and staggered my way to the bathroom to get ready for the day. When I finally hit the road, I still didn’t feel very awake. For example, I managed to misread 3 bumper stickers on the car in front of me while stopped at a light.
One said, “Half the people are below average.” I read it as, “Hail the people are below average.”
Another said, “I made plans, and God laughed.” I read it as, “I made plans, and Goo laughed.”
The third one said, “hell on wheels.” I thought it said, “bell on wheels.”

Oh yes, let’s not forget how I almost killed myself 10 minutes later when I got on the highway. You see, they are doing major roadwork (as always!) and the lines on the highway have been drawn and redrawn several times. So it’s actually kind of hard to tell where the real lines are anymore. I thought I was following the lines farthest to the left, but that was the wrong move. As the lanes began to shift to the right more, and I almost hit a barricade. I almost had to call in dead to work today. Fun times! But hey, at least I didn’t lose the key to a chastity belt. HAHA

Shopping and shenanigans at Faneuil Hall

Aside from almost killing myself and forgetting how to read, I had a really fun weekend. One of the highlights was seeing Erin on Saturday. She came up my way and we went shopping at Faneuil Hall. We were going to eat there, but the call of Korean fried chicken and sushi from Bonchon was too strong. So we made our way back to Allston for some delicious food. Once were done, we went to Sunset Grill across the street for some grande sangria’s and to catch the last half of the game. We were both pleasantly surprised the Patriots pulled off the win. After the game, we went back to my place to watch movies and make plans for our adventure in April. Oh yes, I also saw the movie Sisters over the weekend. It was actually a lot better than I thought it was going to be!
