OUR WEDDING WAS OUT OF THIS WORLD!

FB_IMG_1506227208689.jpg

Sneak peek of the professional photos. I can’t wait to see them all!

I got married eight days ago, and am finally getting around to writing about it. I didn’t really have time to take many pictures on my own phone, so I saved a bunch from wedding guests on Facebook. I made them into some collages. In case you couldn’t tell, it was a Star Wars theme. We had a lot of fun with it.

I experimented with a video collage, no idea how it’s going to translate into this blog post. I didn’t select music, so I also don’t know what the sound will be, so be warned! Anyway, I was a bit anxious the last week before the wedding. I didn’t sleep much the night before. But that was to be expected. Everything went really well! Our ceremony was short and sweet, and my brother was the officiant. He dressed as Obi Wan Kenobi. I did an R2D2 inspired hair style, I even dyed my purple hair streak to blue.

I felt like a pinball for most of the reception, just jumping around from thing to thing. I tried to enjoy as much as possible, I danced, ate, drank, used the photo booth, and had a great time. But man, the day did fly by! I did have to escape periodically for pictures, but that was to be expected. Andy hates pictures, so that wasn’t fun for him.

I am a little sad it’s over, but also relieved. I spent so much time planning, that it is nice to have spare time and income! I can’t wait for the professional photos, I’ll be sure to post my favorites later on. We aren’t going on a honeymoon until early next year. So we went to the Cape for a few days after the wedding. We were really fortunate to have awesome weather for the wedding and Cape. It’s was very warm for late September. But I can’t wait for the fall weather to kick in, I love boot season.

I just realized I collaged the same photo twice. Oh well!

ENTERING MY LARRY BIRD YEAR

tenor

It’s my birthday, and I’m officially 33. I call it my Larry Bird year, since I’m from Boston and all. It’s also 10 days until my wedding, yikes! I’m trying to stay calm, but that is easier said than done. Today I’m going out to lunch and having a nice steak from Ruth Chris for dinner. I can’t wait, sign me up for ice cream and steak.

I forgot to post that my co-workers surprised me last week with a little bridal shower. It was very nice of them! I loved the cake, of course. haha! On Saturday, my family arranged a spa day followed by lunch, since they couldn’t make it to my bachelorette party. It was very kind of them, and I’m grateful! One of my sisters picked up some Star Wars masks and the shirt I’m wearing. I’m going to use the masks for my photo booth at the wedding. I already had some from Amazon, but doesn’t hurt to have more!

IF YOU PLAY DEFENDER, I COULD BE YOUR HYPERSPACE

hyperspace

I had a goal in mind for the weekend, it was to lock down a wedding dress. Not that I had been to a ton of bridal shops trying things on, but I had been deliberating options, and pinning dresses for months. So when I went to my second bridal appointment, I was hoping it would be one of the last appointments. As fun as dress shopping is, it can get stressful. Only because it’s a lot of pressure to find the right gown. The trouble is, I like a lot of dresses. So it was hard for me to say what I did/didn’t like about some of dresses over others. This made it a tad difficult to zero in what exactly I was looking for.

wp-1485200261079.jpg

I had basic parameters. I liked a-line or ball gown, sparkle, and tulle. That lead to so many options! I was also trying to find something different, yet traditional at the same time. So I was scratching my head as to how I would be able to find anything like that?! I also made the mistake of going to look at dresses that were out of budget. I went to a trunk show for a designer I liked. They didn’t list prices on the gowns, so I guess I didn’t think about it too much.

I honestly was just going so I could poke around and see if they had this specific dress I was trying to track down from Fall 2012. Which they didn’t. Instead I tried on some dresses that were the overall silhouette I liked. I fell in love with this amazing glittery dress, and the finding out the price was like getting shot in the face. ROOKIE MOVE. How many times have I watched wedding dress reality shows?! It’s like the cardinal rule of dress shopping, don’t bother with things out of budget. But I did. So I was feeling discouraged with trying other places, because I wasn’t sure I’d find something I liked as much as the expensive glittery one.

I ended up at Vows over the weekend. It’s outlet bridal shop, that was on the defunct TLC show “I Found the Gown.” My consultant was great! She asked me what I did/didn’t like about certain gowns. Which was tricky, because I felt like I liked a lot of the dresses I tried, and it was difficult to pin point what exactly I didn’t like about them. But she did a great job, and pulled a dress none of us saw.

We missed it because we focused on looking at full skirt styles, prior to my appointment. So we forgot to check out the a-line section. Once I put it on, I knew it was dress for me. We all agreed, including my mom. My mom and I have drastically different tastes. The best part? It was very much under budget. I named my dress Hyperspace, as the design on it, reminds me of when a ship goes into hyperspace in Star Wars. So I thought that was appropriate. Now the title of this post, makes sense, huh?

MY PRIZE WINNING PUMPKIN SKILLZ

wp-1478006258559.jpg

I can’t believe October is over already. I feel like I’ve been anxiously awaiting Halloween. It’s one of my favorite holidays, after all. But it came and went so quickly. Please enjoy my prize-winning BB-8 pumpkin! This year my department sponsored my pumpkin, so I didn’t have to pay for the supplies out of pocket. So the pumpkin is really the departments pumpkin, and they were quite impressed with my handy work. It was definitely the best pumpkin at our work party. No offense to the other pumpkins, they came out great as well. But BB-8 was a show stopper. I rigged it to flash, and stuck a Bluetooth speaker under his head to  make him beep. Making him beep was a request from one of my co-workers, and I was happy to oblige. I’m glad I happen to have a small enough speaker to get the job done.

I feel like I need a vacation from my weekends in October. I certainly jam-packed them with activities. In addition to partying it up, I’ve been trying to get back on track with my diet/exercise routine. I’ve been doing pretty well with it, just a few cheat meals mixed in. I can’t help it, I need balance, yo! I ended up jogging 5k yesterday when I got home from work. I was trying to take full-advantage of the Pokemon Go Halloween promotion. I actually did a lot better than I thought.

I hate running though, I don’t mind walking at all. I actually love walking! But I was forced to run yesterday because I didn’t have much time to squeeze in the 5k before heading out last night. Stupid Niantic, not making the game rely solely on a pedometer. I’m hoping they will do that with another build. They can’t be mean and expect us people that actually have winter to be jogging around in 6ft snow banks. HAVE MERCY ON OUR SNOW-RIDDEN SOULS! Granted, I think I’m one of three people worldwide that still plays that game. My strange commitment to it is quite maddening.

So what did I do on Halloween? I actually didn’t do much. I could have gone out and gotten more use out of my Millennium Falcon get up, but I had to much to get done. Instead Andy and I grabbed a bite to eat and met with the contractor doing the work on our apartment. He is going to start the heating/cooling system this week. Which means we’ll be getting rid of the giant old skool metal radiators in our new place. Progress!

WARP SPEED, TO HALLOWEEN!

Big reveal: my costume is the Millennium Falcon!

Hello blog! Its been a few weeks since I last blogged. I got back from Arizona about 10 days ago, but I haven’t gotten around to writing about my trip yet. I’ll get around to that real soon.

Anyway, my costume was finished just in time for a Halloween party this weekend. I told Andy I wanted to be the Millennium Falcon. I just wanted help with lighting, anything involving power tools, and measurements. Instead, he took the project and ran with it. He did a seriously impressive job, I love my costume! It was worth all the many trips to Home Depot and craft store to complete it. Not to mention all the money we spent on materials, yikes! Probably cheaper to build an actual Millennium Falcon, haha.

The costume is made with foam, duct tape, and tons of paint. Andy rigged it to light up, so I flip a switch to hit warp speed. Which (admittedly) I did a lot, to travel between rooms.

The party I went to was so much fun. My friend Fiona did an awesome job transforming her apartment into Stranger Things (Netflix series). I think her decorations were amazing. My costume actually ties in with Stranger Things. There was a scene where Mike tried to get 11 to fly his falcon toy, and she declined. Later on, she makes it fly with her powers.

There was a costume contest at the party. I somehow managed to snag Most Original and Best Costume. I was very honored to get not only one prize, but two! Andy was very thrilled his hard work paid off. There were lots of great costumes to compete with. There were even 2 very convincing Mrs. Byers. There were some other non Stranger Things related costumes were great as well.

Once we settled down, we relaxed by the fire. But no night would be complete without a trip to The Drop to parade our costumes. Our Uber driver joined us at the bar, I guess we know how to party.

I was thankful most people that approached me about my costume, knew what it was! Unlike last year, when a lot of people told me they loved my costume, then proceeded to ask me what it is. 😂 There were a lot of Star Wars nerds at the bar, all of them appreciated the costume. I think Andy was happy to get all the positive feedback on his costume baby, haha. Only two people had to ask me what my costume was, so that is impressive. I also made a new Facebook friend with a girl that I was talking with about Star Wars and Dr. Who. Nerdy friends are the best kind of people! 🤓

I need to start thinking about next year. But until then, I was tasked with carving a pumpkin for a department competition this week. I was nominated because I won the pumpkin carving contest at work a couple times. I have a lot of pressure now. Oh man!

STAR WARS: THE ENGAGEMENT AWAKENS!

giphy

Are you ready for some barf salad this morning? Well too bad, I have important news of the romantical-type nature! I GOT ENGAGED! Crazy, right? I’m so excited, I may shoot lasers out of my eyes, and beep furiously…as any lady-Droid would do!

FotorCreated

It’s a freaking R2D2 ring. Never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined getting something this COOL!

I’ve been absent from my blog because I planned to type up a nice post about this occasion. But ever since this happened, I’ve been too busy to sit down and write. I got engaged on a random Wednesday night in our kitchen. I’m not a cheesy-romantic type so a non-public proposal was a-okay with me. Andy wanted to do something special over the weekend, but the weather was showing snow at the time.

He had been working on this ring for about six months or so. This was between a jeweler drafting a design, saving money, and waiting for the jeweler to work his Jedi-magic. Apparently the ring was finally ready, and he just couldn’t wait to show me!

So while I was putting away clean glasses in the kitchen, Andy sidled up to me, and popped the question. I was stunned for a moment, followed by saying “OH MY GOD” several hundred times. He then asked me what my answer was, I didn’t realize I never actually ANSWERED. So (of course) I said yes. I mean, IT’S AN R2D2 RING! My mind started flipping out. I was shaking a little, and my right armpit would not stop sweating. Lovely picture, eh?

While waiting for my heart-rate to level, I began contacting family and close friends to tell them. We waited until we were heading out to dinner to finally make this “Facebook Official”. Now the wedding plans begin, there will definitely be some Star Wars elements to the big day. I’m actually looking forward to planning, because I want to think up Star Wars ideas. I mean, I can’t have a normal/romantic type wedding. That isn’t my style, I want to have a fun time filled with people and things I love (LIKE STAR WARS!). We also plan to stay local for the wedding, so no Disney World for us.

THE WEEKEND GLUTTON

2016-02-01 11.39.44

Why yes, that is a lightsaber skirt!

I ate FAR TOO MUCH this weekend. It was all delicious, so it was totally worth it. On Saturday we went to the mall, then Ginny’s birthday party at Golden Temple a.k.a the Mos Eisley Cantina. I was starving, so I ordered a bunch of food and ate too much. Andy was very tired and my stomach was bothering me from eating too much, so we left shortly after dinner. It was for the best as my stomach didn’t feel better until the morning anyway.

2016-02-01 11.40.49

Unfortunately, stuffing my face the night before didn’t prevent me from making the same mistake on Sunday! My mom wanted to try a new restaurant in town. So we all met up there for lunch. The food was really good and I ate too much (again). Apparently I do not learn lessons easily. But this time I didn’t bother my stomach. All in all, a successful weekend!
