Nomad cosmetics shadow singles, Urban Decay Distortion, Juvia’s Place Douce, and Too Faced Chocolate Gold

I have done most of my Christmas shopping by now. All I have left is my younger nieces and nephews, plus my parents and in-laws. Considering how lengthy my Christmas list is, that is an achievement. In the mix, I bought myself some things as well. I got a bunch of new shoes over Black Friday/Cyber Monday, and donated the old ones. It was time for an upgrade. I guess I’m getting old, because I splurged and got some quality pairs, instead of the ones I usually pick up from Forever 21 or Target. I mean, I’m not going to pass up a cute pair of shoes from either of those stores, but I want to pretend I’m an adult.

Since it’s the holidays, a lot of new eye shadow palettes have been released. I was eyeing the Urban Decay Distortion palette, Too Faced Chocolate Gold, and the Juvia’s Place Douce.  There was some shipping drama with my Urban Decay palette though. Since I’m a Rouge member with Sephora, I got early access to it. So I ordered one for myself. Then I remembered one of my friends wanted one too, so I placed another order for her. Another friend also wanted it too, so I placed a third order.

Unfortunately, Sephora uses Lasership and they tend to not deliver my packages before 10pm, which is problematic. I usually am asleep, or forget to check the porch before bed by the time it gets delivered. One of the orders actually got to me on time. The other got delivered at 10pm and sat on my porch until morning. The last order was “mis-sorted” and ended up someplace in East Who Cares New Jersey. I waited a few days before contacting Sephora. They said the package was lost and issued me a refund. But the eye shadow was sold out, so I couldn’t place another order. GAH!

Thankfully, the shadow was re-released the following day. So I ordered another one, and opted to have it ship USPS. Through some odd stroke of luck, the order that was “lost”, got found. It was delivered on Saturday at 11:30PM. I grabbed later that night from the porch when I got home from the bar. I also did end up getting the 4th order yesterday. So lest Sephora charge me for the one that was refunded, I have returned one of the units. OMG, so much drama! But at least now my friends Christmas gift is in my hands. I have used basically all of these palettes at this point. But I need to get back into doing reviews. I think I’m going to upgrade my DSLR camera over Christmas, so I can take some nice pictures of swatches and things for reviews. Stay tuned!

So I’m just realizing Christmas is SUNDAY! Like, what?! I HAVEN’T EVEN DECORATED YET! Not that I go nuts with decorating. All we do is put up a tree and ornaments. Then I hang some stockings, and tinsel around the mantel.

But we now give Zorro (almost) full run of the apartment while we’re out. I fear he’ll eat the fake tree and poop out blue holographic fake pine well into the New Year. Plus break my R2D2 ornaments. R2Tree2 would be ruined! Also, it’s laziness at this point.

Anyway, I finished shopping in November. I also wrapped gifts a couple weeks ago. So I’m definitely ready for this Christmas business, even if my apartment isn’t. As for me, I bought myself a peachy Christmas treat! I already had the Too Faced Sweet Peach eyeshadow pallette. Now I added on the Papa Don’t Peach blush, and Peach Glow highlighter kit. Plus I got a gorgeous deep plum Urban Decay lipstick, and Boscia wipes. Treat yo self! I should probably get myself some new underwear too. I also have dump some of my old ones, that have rips in them. Haha

I probably crossed the threshold into an insane-person in regard to beauty products long ago. But I really went above and beyond today. I had been eyeing this limited-edition eyeshadow palette from Too Faced. But apparently it sold out very quickly online and no news on when/if it would be restocked. At first I wasn’t even going to bother with this palette, but I seem to collect these special Too Faced shadows. Plus I’m a sucker for peachy eye shadow. Eventually my resistance faded, and I began to try to find one on my own.

Leave it to me to decide to finally be on-board with something, after it’s already sold out everywhere. But I noticed on the Sephora site they were going to carry it in stores at the end of the week. I decided to try and see if some stores happen to get it in early. As luck would have it, the store I called near my work had ONE LEFT in stock. The man who helped me on the phone was kindly enough to set it aside for me. It happened to be near my lunch break, so I grabbed my coat and umbrella and made my way to the mall.

It’s not a mall I’m familiar with AT ALL. I’ve only been there maybe 3 times or so. I honestly had no idea where the Sephora was, and their directory didn’t even list it. WTF?! So I Googled the site for the mall and eventually found it, after power-walking the mall. Apparently I picked the parking area farthest away from the store, UGH. But no matter, I got in line and realized I left my 15% off coupon AT HOME. Thankfully since I’m a Rouge member, they hooked me up with the discount anyway. WOOHOO! Afterwards, I made my way back to work with 15 minutes to spare of my lunch break. Despite not knowing where the store was, I’m still a very speedy walker. So I made good time getting back. I can’t wait to use these shadows, they are very prettyful.

Fotor0728112541I thought I would share my latest Sephora haul. This time I got Philosophy ‘When Hope is Not Enough‘ facial serum, Smashbox Step-By-Step Contour Kit, Too Faced Chocolate Bar Eye Palette, and Bumble and bumble Straight Blow Dry.I haven’t had a chance to try anything out, except for the Straight Blow Dry (it’s a re-order) and the Philosophy serum.

I’ve been using the Bumble and bumble balm for a couple years now (that’s how long it took me to finally use up my 5oz tube). I love the results! It’s a heat-activated styling balm that helps straighten, smooth, and prevent frizz. It also leaves my hair natural looking/feeling, as I don’t like anything that leaves a residue. YUCK.

I was very excited to finally get the Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette! I can’t believe I was able to wait this long to get it. I mean, it’s shaped like a chocolate bar and the shadows are made with coco powder so they smell delicious. If my eyelids decide to ever become smelly, these eye shadows will come in handy. haha! The palette also came with instructions on how to achieve certain looks, I’ll definitely be using those.

I kinda wish I researched contour kits a bit more, but this Smashbox one seems really simple. But I’m sure I could have found one in a lower price range. Hopefully when I use it, I’ll really love it as I’ve been wanting to try a kit for a while now.

Since I’ll be turning 30 in just over a month, I thought it would be a good idea to start with the anti-wrinkle treatments. I’m trying a serum for now and this one by Philosophy has good ratings. It has a slight smell to it, but it fades quickly. The serum is formulated as a lightweight, oil-free antioxidant serum with toning, firming, and anti wrinkle properties. I just started using it last night and it hasn’t made me look 16 again, but I’m willing to keep using it.

[EDIT 7/31/14] I tried the chocolate bar palette and contour kit. I loved the chocolate palette! I used the directions for the “milk chocolate” eye look. It came out okay. I added some gold eyeliner because I figured it would go well with the shades of brown. My only complaint about the palette is that the colors are not listed below the shades, so you have to rely on the plastic insert. But other than that, it was easy to follow. I wasn’t really impressed with the contour kit, I feel like it didn’t really show on my face. Maybe you aren’t supposed to use BB cream under it? Just a bare face with concealer, perhaps? Either way, I’m willing to experiment with it more. But I think next time I’ll go with one that’s at a lower price range. [/EDIT]

I’m awful with taking eye makeup pictures, sorry!

**I purchased and reviewed these items on my own.
