Ugh, sorry guys it’s another post about my upcoming wedding. I know, SO ANNOYING! I purposely have not been keeping track of how many days away the wedding is. But we’ve passed the two month mark. That’s even scarier than finding out Lena Dunham is going to be on season 7 of AHS! Anyway, I managed to lock down a photographer. So the photographer crisis for 2017 is over. I even negotiated a sweet deal! I went with the photographer that is a preferred vendor for our venue. It turns out they’ve also done 2 of my friends weddings. So I already know they are good. Bonus, they have a pretty quick turn-around after the wedding.
But the downside is we got the quote back for my wedding ring, and it’s definitely more than we were anticipating. We don’t have much choice though, so you win some and you lose some. I also had my second dress fitting this weekend and it went well. She just has to do the bustle part, then I think we’re about done (I HOPE).
Much to my relief, it looks like we won’t be over the capacity of the ballroom we booked, even if the remaining people all say “yes” (which I hope they don’t). I already know most of my relatives in Europe won’t make it, but I still need a firm answer. We’re missing slightly less than 50% response cards right now, and we’re about 3 weeks out until we need the final count. So people still have time reply. According the bride group I’m in, people not responding at all is pretty common and also RUDE. So as kind reminder, be sure to always send your RSVP cards back for weddings or parties. Don’t be a jerk!
My friend helped me put my wedding stickers onto the light saber favors I got for the wedding. They have six different light modes to choose. So guests can be “dark side” or “light side”. I will be picking the rainbow mode, not sure what side that is? I just hope I don’t need to buy extra, but that all depends on the final count. Ok, that is enough wedding talk for now. My eye is starting to twitch. I don’t know why people enjoy wedding planning, it’s about as fun as slamming your face into a wall of nails. I’ll be sure to post my weekend recap soon, I did do some non-wedding stuff I swear!
My face when someone asks about wedding plans
Ugh, I was doing SO GOOD at blogging a few times a week. Then I got all stressed out about moving and neglected my blog. But I moved back in April, and haven’t gotten back on the blogging horse. Sorry Bloggy Horse! The new apartment is coming along. We have some furniture arriving soon, which reminds me that I have to call and ask when it’s arriving.
I always have a bewildered look on my face when I get asked how wedding planning is going. Not that I’m necessarily behind on anything, I just don’t really know what I’m doing. So I’m just stumbling along like everyone else who has never planned a wedding before. The invites went out last week. So far, only a few people on Andy’s side have responded. Good thing we don’t have a bet going on who gets the most RVSP’s, as I don’t have one single card back from anyone I invited. I guess my friends and families aren’t as eager as Andy’s side?
Anyway, last weekend we met with the event coordinator at our wedding venue. We ran through a bunch of items for the wedding. At the end, she said she wished she had more brides as organized as myself. I consider this a huge compliment, since I have no clue what I am doing! All I did was download a checklist by month of what I’m supposed to be doing (according to one of those wedding websites). It’s actually quite handy.
I moved the checklist to my own Google Keep file. I wanted the option to customize the list. I should have kept my master list intact, so I could share it with other brides who don’t know what they are doing either and are just stumbling through the wedding planning process. I also had my dress fitting this month. The top of my dress has to be taken in quite a bit, I bought a sample off the rack. It needs to be shortened so my crazy heels can peep through a little. We did our cake tasting as well. I still dream about the chocolate cake, I’m sure I’ll be sick of it when I have to take home leftovers. Worry about that later, I suppose.
So apparently I never gave Good Charlotte enough credit back in the day. I never really listened to much of their songs. But I rediscovered “Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous” song a few weeks back, and I can’t stop listening to it. Now I feel bad for thinking they were just another lame pop/punk band from the early 2000’s. Touché, Good Charlotte.
The Superbowl (Super Bowl?) is this weekend. I’ve been calling it the Superb Owl, just to be a smart ass. I’m super nervous about it and I’m not even playing. When the Patriots won in Superbowl 49, I was an anxious mess in my living room. I was jumping around like a mad woman. I was so happy the Patriots pulled off the win. I have no idea if they will win this time around. I mean, I hope they do! I just don’t trust my instincts anymore, especially after the election results. So I’m making no assumptions or predictions at this time. We’re venturing out to watch it. I personally don’t think it’s a good idea, but I’ll play along.
Busy weekend ahead though. Andy and I doing our food tasting for the wedding, so we can lock down the menu. I also have my friends birthday party. This year, I will not try to be “healthy” and get the seaweed salad. I happened to get sick from it TWICE. I will be sure to order the most unhealthy items on the menu, and hope I won’t get sick. That is how it works, right?! On Sunday we’re going to watch the game at a pub, and I plan on using my Patriots nail wraps. I took Monday off, so I can partake in the iHop all you can eat pancakes deal. I just don’t know if I’ll be eating pancakes, or using them as a pillow to cry in. TBD on that.
I’m back from a wonderful Memorial day weekend. We’ll save that recap for another time. I forgot to post about searching for wedding venues a couple weeks back. If there is one thing you should know about me, it’s that I’m not a wedding person. So I want to do the easiest/quickest/cheapest (ish) thing possible. I wish I could pick out a dress, and just show up. Wouldn’t that be nice? The only fun part is the dress shopping anyway!
The only thing salvaging the wedding planning, is coming up with cute ideas to incorporate some Star Wars elements. Not sure if I’m having a full-blown Star Wars wedding yet. I’m probably not going that route. More like having some Star Wars things during the reception.
Anyway, I’ve only looked into two venues so far. I’m leaning towards the second one (pictured). Mostly because it’s cheaper and in a more convenient location. But it all depends on how long our wedding can be. I read a review saying that with set up and clean up, you basically only get 2 hours. That doesn’t make any sense. Who the hell has a wedding in under 2 hours??!! So I called the event coordinator for the property with some follow up questions, after visiting. We’ll see what she says.
I’m also a bit concerned about how crammed the dining area will be. We plan to have around 100 guests, I’d like to keep it under that. I did have my high school senior dinner there, our class was over 300 people. But they don’t have capacity for that, so not sure how many actually attended. I don’t recall feeling cramped in the room. However, high school was [edited to remove year so I don’t feel old] years ago, so memory could fail me. People also don’t sit for an entire wedding, so I think we can all suck it up and deal with being a tad crammed for dinner. Amirite?
I’m hoping to go with this historic property. Andy and I both like it, and I don’t want to rip my hair out scrambling to find something. I also am not a fan of doing a banquet hall, I prefer a place with character. The only thing I want to do this year, is get the venue and date secured. After that, I’m not doing any more serious planning until early next year. Oh yes, I did pick my bridal party, I’m thankful for these ladies!! WOOHOO!!! I promised them I will not be a bridezilla.
